After a difficult period, Francesco Bagnaia regains the smile and the podium with an important third place in the Grand Prix of Aragon. Although the gap in the standings to Marc Marquez has risen to minus 93 points, “Pecco” showed a reaction of pride that could be a turning point in his championship.

Determinant for the improvement was a technical change to the brakes of his Ducati GP25, which went from 340 mm to 355 mm. A choice that has made a difference: “This change has given me more confidence, especially in braking. I can control the blockages better and manage corner entry better,” Bagnaia explained.

The weekend had not started in the best of ways: twelfth in Saturday’s Sprint, the Torinese seemed destined for another weekend in the shadows. But thanks to the modification tried in the warm-up, the feelings changed dramatically. “We knew that even a small detail could help us. Today’s result is important for my and the team’s morale,” he said.

Bagnaia also pointed out the difficulties he encountered with acceleration, particularly in Turn 10 and Turn 17, but once he managed the tire drop he found pace and consistency. “Compared to yesterday, I was able to avoid all the blockages, and that was a huge advantage.”

Although not yet at 100 percent, the Italian champion glimpses the right path: “Tomorrow we will focus on testing to take another step forward.” The Aragon podium does not reopen the title race, but it marks the return of Bagnaia’s competitiveness.

Another Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund: brother Jobe leaves Sunderland

Published

on

Borussia Dortmund continues to focus on young talent, and this time it does so with a surname already well known to Yellow and Black fans: Bellingham. After the exciting experience with Jude, now a Real Madrid star, the German club secures the services of his younger brother, Jobe Bellingham. The 2005-born talent, fresh off a brilliant season with Sunderland, is set to follow in his older brother’s footsteps in the Bundesliga.

The agreement between Sunderland and Borussia Dortmund was reached on Sunday. The deal is for 33 million euros plus 5 million in bonuses, for a potential total of 38 million. This is the most expensive transfer in the English club’s history, surpassing even Jordan Pickford’s transfer to Everton in 2017, which yielded 28.5 million euros. In addition, a 15 percent percentage was agreed on the future resale of the young midfielder.

Jobe arrives in Germany at a crucial moment in his growth. After contributing to Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League through their playoff success against Sheffield United, his talents attracted the attention of numerous clubs. But it was Dortmund who placed the decisive paw.

Unlike his brother Jude, who moved to Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for a similar sum, Jobe makes the big leap with a year to spare. He thus confirms the great potential recognized to him by insiders.

Marc Marquez triumphs at Aragon: “I feel fast, but I have to control myself”

Published

on

Marc Marquez returned to absolute prominence in the MotoGP weekend in Aragon, where he achieved a perfect result: best time in all sessions and victory in the race. A feat that the Spanish champion had not achieved since 2015, at the time of his supremacy riding Honda, and which he achieved today with Ducati, a clear sign of his return to high levels.

The eight-time world champion showed maturity and lucidity as he returned as MotoGP world championship leader. A symbolic gesture of maturity addressed to technical director Gigi Dall’Igna: “I used my head, not like in Austin,” Marquez said, referring to the past incident. “I feel the speed inside me, but I have to learn to control it. On Sundays the track changes a lot and adapting is key. We are working to figure out how to get to the limit without going over it.”

Now thoughts turn to the next event: the Mugello Grand Prix. Marquez acknowledges that it will be a complicated challenge, especially after the difficulties encountered there last year. “I was not competitive and we know that Alex and Bagnaia on paper will be the strongest. We will have to look for something extra than what we have done so far.”

The victory in Aragon not only returns Marquez to first place in the overall standings, but also certifies that the former Honda can return to title point. With a newfound mix of speed and awareness, the champion from Cervera looks ready to give battle to the end.
