The national soccer team coached by Luciano Spalletti will not be able to count on Manuel Locatelli for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Norway (Friday, June 6 away) and Moldova (Monday, June 9 at home). The Juventus midfielder has in fact decided, together with the Azzurri medical staff, to return home to treat the right ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s training.

The decision was confirmed late in the afternoon, after the 1998-born player had undergone medical examinations to preliminarily assess the’extent of the injury. It is therefore the third name that Luciano Spalletti is forced to remove from the list of summoned players, after that of Alessandro Buongiorno (replaced by Luca Ranieri) and that of Francesco Acerbi, by personal choice of the interista.

The national team will face Norway in Oslo, at the Ullevaal Stadion, on Friday at 8:45 p.m. The Norwegians, who have missed the World Cup since 1998, won their first two qualifying matches against Moldova 5-0 and Israel 4-2. It is precisely the Moldovans who will be Italy&#8217s second opponents on Monday at the Mapei Stadium-Città del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia, also at 8:45 p.m.: after the drubbing against Haaland and co., the national team from the former Soviet republic lost at home to Estonia, 3-2.

Italy is still at zero games played in Group I because, while the first two days were going on, the Azzurri were engaged in the Nations League quarterfinals against Germany. Spalletti’s men&#8217s goal is to get into gear right away, to avoid further bitter surprises and regain a qualification they have been sending since the 2014 edition of the rainbow tournament.

Simone Inzaghi, his wife’s confession on Instagram

Simone Inzaghi’s wife Gaia Lucariello also spoke about the news of the day, namely her coach husband’s’farewell to Inter: “The truth is that I would have liked to tell him to stay. I could have insisted, but four years is a long time, and I did not feel like it”

“We would have liked to, yes, but every cycle has a beginning and an end. As a wife, I always try to give the right advice, and today, although the heart would have chosen otherwise, the advice was to move on.

“These four years with Inter have been magnificent. This farewell weighs like a boulder. I will carry these years in my heart forever. Our son also wore the Inter jersey for four years, and that made the bond with these colors even deeper. It is not easy, for any of us. Not even for our little one, who leaves what is home for him.

“Life, however, must be distinguished from work, and today the road takes us elsewhere. But a piece of our heart will stay here. Always. Forza Inter”, he concluded on Instagram

Gianluigi Donnarumma, agent is adamant about market rumors

Gianluigi Donnarumma, the great protagonist of Psg’s triumphant ride in the Champions League, is coveted by clubs from half of Europe.

He is a big name in the world of football.

His agent Enzo Raiola knows it well, who spoke about it to Radio Crc: “We are working on the new contract. Obviously Gigio has several requests, many would like him, but few can afford him. He is very well in Paris, we are in the European champion club, so we are certainly not complaining”.

“Fans have always loved Donnarumma, criticism if anything comes more from Italy’Italy. It was a dream of his to reach the roof of Europe, he succeeded” he added.

Excluding a return to Italy: “That he could go to Napoli is pure fantasy, we have not spoken with the club. Gigio is milanista, but he has never denied his origins and his mother is a blue supporter. I do not know how such news came out, but it is still fantasy”.

Italy, another stop in defense: total emergency for Luciano Spalletti

Published

on

It’s raining wet at home Italy. Tuesday’s training session also saw the stoppage of Matteo Gabbia, who picked up a right calf problem during the match and left the pitch early after a confrontation with coach Spalletti.

That of the Milan defender is yet another defensive injury for the national team, which will have to do without already Buongiorno, Calafiori and Acerbi, who declined a call-up. In addition, both Gatti and Di Lorenzo worked separately, but he reassured about his presence with Norway in a press conference.

“I have a little problem that I have been carrying around for a month– admitted the Napoli captain -, today I think I am still doing something apart but by Friday I will be available. Everything under control”.

Italy will face Norway on Friday, June 6, at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo in the match valid for the third day of Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. For the Azzurri it will be the debut in the group, while the hosts are first with 2 wins in the first two days.
