Milan, budget time: the future of loan players between doubts and confirmations
With the Serie A season now winding down, AC Milan is preparing to experience a summer of big decisions, not only on the technical and managerial front, but also regarding the situation of players on loan. Some have convinced, others less so, but the common thread remains uncertainty: everything will depend on qualification for the European cups and the club’s technical project for next year.
One of the most emblematic cases is that of Kyle Walker, who arrived with high expectations but whose future seems to be tied inseparably to participation in the next Champions League. The experienced English full-back who arrived from Manchester City has already hinted that he is not willing to stay without the Europe that counts, making his stay in Milan rather unlikely in case of failure to qualify.
More defined situation, on the negative side, for Riccardo Sottil and Joao Felix: both have not affected as expected, disappointing in technical and physical aspects. Their return to the base now appears to be a foregone conclusion, barring resounding twists in the last rounds of the championship.
Who, on the other hand, has earned the trust of the environment is Tammy Abraham. The English striker, who arrived from Roma on a dry loan, has proved useful in the offensive rotations and has publicly expressed his appreciation for the city and the Rossoneri shirt. However, the Milan management will have to negotiate with Roma to define a possible stay, perhaps in a deal linked to the fate of Saelemaekers, who is convincing the Giallorossi.
With the valuations of Abraham and Saelemaekers now very similar, an outright swap between the two clubs cannot be ruled out, although options for separate negotiations remain on the table. A very hot summer awaits Casa Milan, between bench revolutions and market entanglements.
