Jannik Sinner restarts with a win: “I am confident.”
Jannik Sinner restarts with a victory
Jannik Sinner picks up where he left off. In his first match in 2025, the world number one beat Alexei Popyrin, number 25 in the ATP rankings, in two sets, defeated with a final score of 6-4 7-6 in nearly one hundred minutes of play, in the exhibition match for the Australian Open Opening Week.
In the first set, Sinner conceded crumbs on serve, with Popyrin never getting to a break ball. The South Tyrolean, however, already has two chances in the third game and as many in the seventh but the Australian manages to save himself. In the ninth game forò the blue does not forgive: he goes up 5-4 and closes the first partial on serve (6-4).
Second set moreù complicated for Jannik, who in the sixth game loses the serve (2-4). Popyrin confirms the break and goes up 5-2 but here comes the reaction of the world number one who recovers the disadvantage, ties at 5-5 and drags the set to the tie-break, dominated by 7 points to 2.
“The first Slam of the season canò be loaded with tension but I am aware of the work of these weeks and all the efforts made and so I am confident” commented the Italian at the end of the match, in the words reported by SuperTennis.

Inter also treats itself to U23: stadium and coach wanted
For the bench, the favorite would be Chivu
Inter has decided to follow the example of Juventus (first club to believe in it), Milan and Atalanta. The Nerazzurri’s U23 is coming, so as to create a “personal” pool from which to draw the champions of the future. Juventus has shown that the U23 can bring important benefits to the first team.
Oaktree, Inter’s American owner, has been on the U23 project for some time, which, now, will come into focus. The first two issues to be addressed, even before figuring out what roster there will be available (lots of youngsters on loan around Italy under contract with Inter), concern the stadium where the matches will be played and the coach to whom the team will be entrusted.
As for the stadium, there would be two options on the table. The Nerazzurri U23 could train and play at the Breda Stadium in Sesto San Giovanni or, alternatively, matches could be played at the U-Power Stadium in Monza. At the moment these would be the two most real hypotheses, although other options are not ruled out.
As for the technical guide, in pole position would be Chivu. Legend of the Nerazzurri club, the former defender è well known in the Nerazzurri environment, as he è been several years on the bench of the Primavera team. Marotta, who has always been a supporter of the so-called “B” teams, would be pushing hard for the Nerazzurri Under 23 to become a reality as soon as possible.

Atalanta, Real Madrid on the trail of one of Gasperini’s jewels
Brazilian targeted by Madrid club for summer
Atalanta è is now known throughout Europe, as are its aces. Several top clubs are taking an interest in Gasperini’s jewels. According to AS, Real Madrid has reportedly initiated the first informal contacts with the Bergamo-based club to find out more about midfielder Ederson, listed as one of the Blanco club’s targets for next summer.
Ederson è was a big player in Atalanta’s recent visit to the Bernabeu. Gasperini has made him his star midfielder. In the middle of the field he can do everything and does it excellently well. Moreover, è he is also dangerous in the goal area. In short, an ideal profile for Real Madrid, which, in fact, would be strongly interested in the Brazilian.
AS recalls how, last summer, Atletico Madrid tried to steal Ederson from Atalanta but, even in front of a super offer (55 million), La Dea declined, given the sure sale of Koopmeiners to Juventus.
This summer, it could be the 25-year-old Ederson himself who could be the star player coming out of Atalanta. Real Madrid also knows that there are other clubs interested in the former Salernitana such as Manchester City, Manchester United and, for a change, Atletico Madrid. It will need a major proposal to convince La Dea to let Ederson, one of its brightest jewels, leave.

Kyrgios also lets it be known that he is ready for anything to be there in Melbourne to play the Australian Open (Thursday morning main draw).
In a subsequent post, Kyrgios He wrote: “See you soon Melbourne”, hinting that his willà è to be there, at all costs, at the first major event of the new season. Just back from a long stop in Brisbane, the Australian has no intention of stopping again.
Many are dreaming of a match, in the first round, between him and Sinner. The world No. 1 is preparing as best he can to defend the title he won in Melbourne last year. Kyrgios, for his part, is doing everything he can to get back to playing at a good level after being in the pits for almost 18 months. Who knowsà if their paths will cross on the court.
