Daniil Medvedev loses his temper: camera demolished in racket
Another rant by the Russian, this time against a camera
Medvedev’s path to the Australian Open, a tournament in which he è reached the final three times (2021, 2022 and 2024), begins in the sign of nervousness. The Russian literally lost his mind in his debut match with Thailand’s Samrej, number 418 in the ATP rankings and, consequently, an opponent of little value, at least on paper.
Medvedev, number 5 seed in the men’s draw, began the match in fluency, taking home the first partial with a clear 6-2. Then, all of a sudden, darkness with the Russian who began to miss the impossible, allowing his opponent to win the next two partials (6-4, 6-3).
Down 2-1 in the set count, Medvedev lost his temper and, at the change of court, racketed the camera positioned in the center of the net, causing it to break. Its replacement led to a forced stop of the match that, almost certainly, will result in a fine to the three-time Australian Open finalist.
Fortunately for him, Medvedev è then managed to straighten out the match, easily winning the next two sets (6-1, 6-2) but the signs of nervousness shown on court do not bode well for the continuation of the tournament. A smashed camera and a shattered racket, Medvedev’s start at the Australian Open è was quite agitated.

More than convincing debut for Jasmine Paolini
Number 4 seed gets off to the best start in Melbourne
The year 2024 è has been, for Jasmine Paolini, a special year. She has won a lot and è reached the top of women’s tennis. Her splendid ride in the last season è began right in Melbourne where, last year, è she made it all the way to the fourth round. It is normal that, in this new edition of the Australian Open, she aims to do even better.
Well, the debut match against Chinese Wei Sijia (who came from the qualifiers) è was definitely convincing. The 29-year-old Italian è took the court very focused, closing the practice in two sets (6-0, 6-4) and showing that she is already in great form.
Especially in the first set, the Wimbledon and Roland Garros finalist played excellently, never giving her opponent a chance to enter the match. Even in the second partial, è it was always Jasmine Paolini who commanded operations. In total, the Italian, number 4 seed in the women’s draw, è remained on court one hour and fifteen minutes to file and fly to the second round in Melbourne.
In the other challenges valid for the first round of the Australian Open, women’s draw, Elena Ribakyna’s victory (6-1, 6-1 over Emerson Jones) and Madison Keys’ success in her challenge with American compatriot Ann Li (6-4, 7-5 the match’s partials) should be noted.

Naples: Kvaratskhelia to bid farewell, Conte chooses replacement
From Garnacho to Werner, how many names for the post-Kvara
It’s about time. Kvaratskhelia è very close to starting his new adventure with PSG. Not that there were any doubts after the words, in a press conference, of Conte (“He asked to be sold”). The 23-year-old Georgian is about to sign his rich contract with the Parisian club (his target for quite some time).
The deal is rumored to be worth 75 million euros. This is how much Napoli will collect for the sale of Kvaratskhelia. No discount and, above all, no technical quid pro quo. The blue club wants all 75 million euros cash, so that it can then move freely on the market in search of the Georgian’s worthy replacement.
Doing business during the winter market is never easy, but if you have a lot of money to invest, it is easier to pull off a few important deals. Napoli would be following several profiles, all very interesting. Adeyemi, 22-year-old star of Borussia Dortmund (in the past approached by Juventus) would be very liked, but the negotiation does not seem easy.
The same goes for young Garnacho, a Manchester United hopeful. At only 20 years old, è already valued at 70/80 million, definitely too much for Napoli’s coffers. Watch out for the name Werner, a striker from Tottenham but owned by Leipzig. One fact è certain: Conte anxiously awaits Kvaratskhelia’s replacement.

NBA, Victor Wembanyama wins challenge with LeBron James
Minnesota thanks its usual super Edwards
The generational clash between Wembanyama and James rewarded the Frenchman. On the jersey retirement night of Cooper, one of the aces of the Showtime LA Lakers of the legendary ’80s, Wembanyama explains to everyone why heè è is destined to dominate the league in the coming years.
Thanks to 23 points (some spectacular plays), the young French star dragged San Antonio to success against the LA Lakers (126-102 the final), not allowing James to take over the reins of the match. The Chosen One still finished with 18 points. In the yellowviola house, a 30-point, 13-rebound Davis was not enough to avoid defeat.
In the other games of the night, of note were the 41 points of a sparkling Edwards in Minnesota’s success against Washington (120-106). Another misstep by Golden State, which surrendered to Toronto (104-101, 26 points by Curry). Detroit wins again, this time disposing of New York (124-119), taking home its 10th win in the last 12 contests. For Fontecchio, four points in 15′ of play.
Houston shines, disposing of Memphis in a sprint (120-118, 42 points by Green). With an excellent second half, the LA Clippers get the better of Miami (109-98). Harden’s contribution was excellent, finishing with 26 points and 11 assists on the score sheet. On the other side, the best è Herro who puts up 32 points (with also 11 rebounds).
