Another rant by the Russian, this time against a camera

Medvedev’s path to the Australian Open, a tournament in which he è reached the final three times (2021, 2022 and 2024), begins in the sign of nervousness. The Russian literally lost his mind in his debut match with Thailand’s Samrej, number 418 in the ATP rankings and, consequently, an opponent of little value, at least on paper.

Medvedev, number 5 seed in the men’s draw, began the match in fluency, taking home the first partial with a clear 6-2. Then, all of a sudden, darkness with the Russian who began to miss the impossible, allowing his opponent to win the next two partials (6-4, 6-3).

Down 2-1 in the set count, Medvedev lost his temper and, at the change of court, racketed the camera positioned in the center of the net, causing it to break. Its replacement led to a forced stop of the match that, almost certainly, will result in a fine to the three-time Australian Open finalist.

Fortunately for him, Medvedev è then managed to straighten out the match, easily winning the next two sets (6-1, 6-2) but the signs of nervousness shown on court do not bode well for the continuation of the tournament. A smashed camera and a shattered racket, Medvedev’s start at the Australian Open è was quite agitated.

Marc Marquez knows he is dominating this year but he has also made several heavy mistakes: “They are my weakness, I will try to handle everything differently, but I made them all on Sunday and I have to avoid them if I want to fight for the championship. I will have to think about the races where I didn”t score points.

In Aragon he will be the favorite: “Dominating here like last year will be difficult since it was raining, it will be a faster weekend, with a more rubberized track and therefore more difficult. In Silverstone I wanted to defend the points lead, here I will try to fight for the victory. My feelings compared to last Gp are better”.

In the press conference Marco Bezzecchi, winner at Silverstone, also spoke: “It was great, I missed the podium. The bike gives very good sensations, I can&#8217t wait to start again here and try to be competitive. We made a lot of steps forward, because we were also in Jerez and Le Mans but I made some mistakes. It might be difficult to repeat, but we want to be continuous”.
