Lecce in mourning: date chosen for make-up against Atalanta

A deep mourning has struck the world of Italian soccer and, in particular, Lecce. Earlier today Graziano Fiorita, the Salento club’s historic physiotherapist, passed away suddenly. The tragic news shocked the entire Giallorossi environment, prompting the club — in agreement with the Lega Serie A — to ask for and obtain the postponement of the challenge against Atalanta, initially scheduled for Friday, April 25 at 20:45.
The match will instead be played on Sunday, April 27, at the same time, to allow the team to return to Puglia and stand by the Fiorita family at this time of immense grief. Fiorita, 56, had been an integral part of the Lecce medical staff for more than 20 years. A respected professional and a man appreciated by all for his humanity and discretion, he accompanied the club through numerous seasons between Serie A, B and C, becoming a familiar figure for players, coaches and fans.
The club expressed its condolences through a touching statement: “In this moment of deep sorrow and total disbelief, in which any words would be superfluous, the club can only huddle around his wife Azzurra and children Carolina, Davide, Nicolò and Riccardo, his mother Francesca and all family members.”
Technician Marco Giampaolo and the entire roster also expressed great emotion over the loss of a central figure in the daily life of the group. The team decided to suspend all activities as a sign of respect and closeness to the family.
Football, today, pauses to remember a man who gave so much to his club, always behind the scenes but never invisible. Graziano Fiorita will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Giovanni Galeone reveals a backstory on Massimiliano Allegri and the'Inter Milan
Giovanni Galeone told Messaggero Veneto about his protégé Massimiliano Allegri: “I think he waited until the last for a call from Inter Milan. He had an agreement with Napoli, before Conte decided to stay”.
“Strange that Marotta, who had had Allegri at Juve, did not take him. With all due respect to Chivu a club that has played two Champions finals in the last three seasons cannot take a technician with 13 appearances in Serie A”.
“I hope he does better this time and can win the Scudetto at the first attempt as in his previous adventure in the Rossoneri. And it is not certain that he will not succeed. I heard him very happy and charged. And in my opinion Tare is building him a good team”.
Closing on Spalletti’s exoneration: “He is the least guilty of all. It is the organization of the system that does not work. There are no longer youth sectors, there is a lack of soccer teachers, we immediately focus everything on tactics. We have sold out our soccer and we are paying the consequences. I would have taken Mancini. It is true that he left badly, but he was the only Italian coach who was ready. Or if the focus had been on a foreigner, I would have taken Rafa Benitez, a deep connoisseur of soccer and players. The top would have been Ancelotti, but he had already settled with Brazil“.

“I am happy with this bronze, although there remains the regret of not having done more in front of a warm, wonderful audience – said Martina Batini -. Surely my teammates who did not make it to the podium today will have so much desire for redemption in the team competition, in which we will give everything to get the best.”
