Defined the eight teams qualified for the Europa League quarterfinals

.

In addition to Lazio and Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United, Lyon, Tottenham, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bodo Glimt and Glasgow Rangers will also break out the pass for the Europa League quarterfinals.

At Old Trafford, the Red Devils overwhelmed Real Sociedad thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ hat-trick (including two on penalties) and Dalot’s goal sealed in the midst of recovery. It was of little use, the goal scored from the penalty spot by Oyarzabal.

A clear success also for Lyon, which after the 3-1 win in the first leg, rifled a peremptory 4-0 win over Steaua Bucharest, for an overall result of 7-1. Absolute stars of the evening were Mikautadze and Nuamah with two goals apiece.

Eintracht Frankfurt also made the field factor count, crushing Francesco Farioli’s Ajax with a heavy 4-1 win. The German outfit brought it close already in the first half thanks to goals from Bahoya and Gotze. In the resumption, then, Ekitike and once again the former Dortmund make the deficit even more important for the Lancers, to whom the goal of the flag signed by Taylor is not enough.

Great show of strength for Tottenham, which after losing 1-0 in the first leg, managed to overturn Az Alkmaar at home with a score of 3-1. In the net for Spurs Odobert (double) and Maddison, while for the Dutch to score Koopmeiners.

Failing to overturn the heavy 0-3 of the first leg, however, Olympiacos, which, at home, managed to narrowly beat (2-1) Bodo Glimt, without, however, managing to snatch qualification.

Finally, qualification to the quarterfinals for José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce fades in penalty kicks. The Turkish side, after coming back from a two-goal deficit in the first leg, was doomed by as many as three mistakes in the penalty shoot-out.

In the quarterfinals, Tottenham will face Eintracht Frankfurt, Bodo Glimt will face Marco Baroni’s Lazio, Glasgow Rangers will face Atheltic Bilbao, Roma’s executioner, and finally Manchester United will face Lyon.
