The words of Matteo Berrettini

“A great match, I played really well: with Gael you always have to stay lì because I know his strengths but he knows mine”. E’ thrilled Matteo Berrettini: convincing his debut in the “Duty Free Tennis Championships” (ATP 500 – prize money $3,415,700) being played on the concrete in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The 28-year-old Roman, No. 30 ATP, fresh from the quarters in Doha, beat Frenchman Gael Monfils, No. 40 in the rankings, 75 64, in one’hour and 22 minutes of play.

“I am proud of the way I brought home the first set,” added the Roman. “Mentally è it was tough: twice I was a break ahead. The truth è è that I am happy because è I am healthy and playing well. Doha è was a great tournament, with three great battles: in the quarters I could have maybe even won but anyway that tournament gave me a lot of confidence. It has been a long time since I played here in Dubai: è it was great to be back on this court with so many people cheering for me I felt the’energy and I hope that this week will also be long”.

Thanks to the quarters reached last week in Qatar the’blue è again in the top thirty: “It means a lot to me. Last year at this time I wasn’t even playing: I was training with so many question marks. Ours è is a fast-paced sport and you cannot take anything for granted. I put in so much effort with my team and the people who love me. I am proud of what I am doing but I want to do even more ”.

The FIA&#39s latest stunt: at least two pit stops at Monte Carlo

The first session of the FIA Council of 2025 with the members of the WSMC was held today by videoconference and the most important decision that was made concerns the Monaco Grand Prix at the Monte Carlo circuit.

È in fact, it has been decided that yes each driver will have to make at least two pit stops over the entire race. Not only that, each will have to use all three compounds available for that weekend.

All with the usual, cloying justification that is given every time these “innovations” are introduced: to increase the spectacle during the race.

According to the FIA then, in a race where it è very difficult to overtake, if not impossible (at least for today’s cars), pit stops would liven it up. We’ll see if it really will be soè.

“Our program is to try different things, collect as much data as possible and get familiar with the car, and today we have already learned a lot. È it is too early to really understand the absolute values, but everything seems to be going right, and as a team we are working on the best way to optimize each run down the track. There’è still a lot to do over the next few days to complete our program and understand the car to the best of our ability, and I’m looking forward to getting back on track”.
