Two tie-breaks, contest decided by small details

Arnaldi’s path to the Brisbane tournament è ended in the round of 16. The Italian, after beating, convincingly, Popyrin in the first round, è surrendered to Opelka in the next round. The 27-year-old American è won at the end of two hard-fought sets: 7-6, 7-6 the partials (in just under two hours of play).

A match that the Azure played quite well, so much so that the defeat è came only because of some details and, above all, with two tie-breaks. In the first, Arnaldi even has a set ball but fails to exploit it properly. In the second set, no break ball and victory of the U.S. with the score of 7 to 4 in the tie-break.

An important victory for Opelka who, having solved several physical problems, is aiming for a 2025 as a top player. The American wants to return to the highest level and significantly improve his ranking. The goal è to enter and remain stably in the Top 10.

In the other matches played in Brisbane, Perricard’s magic moment continues, who, after beating Kyrgios in the first round, also rules Tiafoe (6-4, 7-6), earning a place in the quarterfinals. Mensik also did well, disposing of Lajovic (6-3, 6-2 the match’s partials).

Contestation in Milan: “Go to work” and “Yankee go home”

Milan challenged: “Go to work”.

In spite of winning the Italian Super Cup, it certainly cannot be considered positive Milan’s year.

The Rossoneri fans, disappointed with the’progress of the season, staged a hard protest at the Meazza match with Monza that closed the championship of the two Lombardy teams.

No banners displayed and choruses leaving little room for the’imagination: “To work, go to work”, “Are you leaving or not?” and “Yankee go home” among them. Hailed Paolo Maldini with an ad hoc chorus. After the vigorous protest, the Milan fans blatantly abandoned their seats in the stands, leaving a vast and visible hole in the heart of the Curva Sud.

Very few biancorossi fans also showed up for the ’appointment at the ‘Scala del Calcio’: Alessandro Nesta&#8217s team, long since relegated to Serie B, will play in well other stages next season, most likely with another coach on the bench.
