The 99.66% of ballots that have been counted show that Erdogan received 52.13 % of the votes and his rival Kemal Kucdaroglu received 47.87%. According to the results of the vote counted thus far, 84.3% of voters participated in the election.

Erdogan won 27,579 votes, while Kemal Kulcdaroglu received 25,324,254.

In the second round, 64 197 419 people were eligible to vote.

The voting in the 81 Turkish districts was conducted without major incidents or violations. Five people were arrested by the Istanbul General Prosecutor’s Office only in the afternoon for spreading provocative social media posts about the second round presidential elections.

In the same district where he lives, Recep Erdogan voted as he did in the first round. The section was again crowded with people who had waited in the rain for hours for the president. Erdogan, 69 years old, cast his vote with his wife Emine and said that he expected results to be announced quickly, as only two candidates would be voted on.

“For the very first time in Turkish democracy’s history, we are witnessing the second round of presidential elections.” Erdogan said that there have been no elections in history where so many people voted.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, congratulated Recep Erdoan on his victory in the run-off election in Turkey. Erdogan received 52.1% of the votes, while his opponent Kemal Kucdaroglu received 47.9%.

The message of the Russian President stated that “the election victory is a result of the selfless and tireless work as head of state for Turkey.”

Viktor Orban, the Hungarian prime minister, wrote on social media: “Congratulations President Erdogan on his undisputed win.” The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeiba had also sent his congratulations earlier, as the vote counting continued.

The President of Iran congratulated Recep Erdoan as well. Ebraim Raisi called his likeness “a sign of continued trust by the people of Turkey.”

Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s president, congratulated Recep Erdogan “his brother and his friend” on his “triumph”. Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated Erdogan as well.
