Azerbaijan will provide natural gas to Hungary via Bulgaria

The Turkish President Recep T. Erdogan announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey on April 27 for the opening ceremony of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

“We are successfully completing the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.” On April 27, perhaps Mr. Putin will be there or we will connect through an online video link, and hopefully we can inaugurate the first phase of our first nuclear plant,” Erdogan said during a televised television interview.

In a post on social media yesterday, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources minister Fatih Donmez revealed: “The first fuel will arrive at our facility on 27 April.” The Akkuyu NPP being built by a Russian firm will be given the status of a Nuclear Facility.

Erdogan also announced that Turkey and Azerbaijan were ready to supply natural gases to Europe and Hungary via the TANAP transanatolian gas pipe project, via Bulgaria.

Erdogan, who was in Ankara yesterday to meet with the visiting Hungarian president Katalin Novak at a press conference, said: “At this moment we are prepared to provide any type of support to Azerbaijan concerning the supply of natural gases to Hungary through TANAP.”

The Turkish president said: “We live in a world marked by wars and crises.” In this environment, we have been able build a strong and independent Turkey, and must continue.”

Erdogan said that Turkey has fought and continues to fight to keep war away from its country.

“First, we won’t send our country to war. Second, we’ll keep the family strong. Third, we’ll be more sensitive towards immigration, especially from Syria, and will not tolerate mistreatment of immigrants.

Erdogan said that Ankara would continue to make efforts for peace between Russia and Ukraine.

The current president who is also running for the presidency in the May 14 elections, said that his party will conduct a “quiet, but thorough” election campaign to respect the suffering of earthquake victims.

“We have been preparing the elections for 2023 for 20 years. We understand the importance of our 100th anniversary as a republic to our country. We changed our election campaign because of the earthquake,” he said.
