Victor Osimhen remembers his injury: ‘I thank God I’m alive’
Many reasons for redemption, but also a time of great fear.
Victor Osimhen returns to talk about Napoli and does so from his Nigeria, where he is in these days of the Serie A break to make way for the national teams. And the center forward è dwelt on his excellent results in the Azzurri, but also on the injury that has “given him” his iconic mask and, above all, a colossal scare: the fracture in his cheekbone and left eye socket he suffered on November 21, 2021.
“I was injured in the game against Inter,” Osimhen recalled speaking to ‘Kortyeo’ -A ball was coming that I wanted to catch, Skriniar hit my face with his head and I had to operate. That injury è it was almost fatal, I thank God that I am still alive”.
Osimhen è però especially proud of how well è his impact with Napoli went: “When I arrived, some people said I would not even score 4 goals. They said Serie A was very physical, and it è. But if someone says I can’t do something, and maybe I can’t really do it, I at that point want to learn it and challenge those who didn’t believe in me. Now those who said those things are hiding”.

Everything was easy for Matteo Arnaldi, the 30th seed in the draw, in the first round of the Us Open. The Sanremese player, in fact, won in three sets with Zachary Svajda, number 102 in the ATP ranking, with the final score of 6-3 6-2 6-1 after an hour and three quarters of play.
After a balanced first set, decided only by a break in the eighth game, Arnaldi ramped up in the second and third halves, leaving only three games to his opponent. The Italian in the next round will face Russian Roman Safiullin, who defeated American Matthew Forbes in three sets.
No dice, however, for Fabio Fognini, who must already leave Flushing Meadows. In fact, the Taggiasco player had to surrender to Tomas Machac, number 39 in the world rankings, who won in three sets with the final score of 7-5 6-1 6-3 after one hour and three quarters of play.

Us Open, Jannik Sinner suffers one set, then dominates: he’s in the second round
Jannik Sinner-Mackenzie McDonald 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2
Jannik Sinner’s journey to the Us Open begins on the right foot. After an uphill start, the world number one rediscovered himself and beat Mackenzie McDonald, world number 140, in four sets in the first round of the U.S. major, with a final score of 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2 after 2 hours and 24 minutes of play.
The challenge starts badly for the South Tyrolean who surrenders the serve in the opening game. McDonald confirms the lead (2-0), Sinner immediately recovers (2-2) but then loses four consecutive games, with the U.S. cashing in the first partial 6-2 in the presence of a rather unrecognizable Italian.
Sinner gets off to a bad start in the second set as well, suffering the break in the opening with no less than two double faults. Here forò comes the reaction of the leader of the seeding who threads four consecutive games and closes for 6-2 the second partial, putting the set count back on a par.
From that moment on, the South Tyrolean put the arrow in his hands. The blue, in fact, overturned the initial disadvantage and went ahead by a set, dominating the third partial, which he won 6-1 after only 25 minutes. The fourth set was also without history, in which Sinner flew up 4-0 in a flash and then closed 6-2.
Sinner thus advances to the second round of the Us Open where he will find another American: Alex Michelsen, who defeated Eliot Spizzirri (6-1 7-5 6-3) in three sets.
