Jannik Sinner won over Paolo Bertolucci: “Clear improvements.”
Before the semifinals, other important compliments come.
Jannik Sinner is preparing to play the fifth semifinal of his career in a Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto against Tommy Paul. After his big win over Gael Monfils, however, there are plenty of compliments that have come his way. And one of those who wanted to highlight his great moment was Paolo Bertolucci.
“Jannik Sinner’s building work continues,” were Bertolucci’s remarks for ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport.’ “The building site still remains open, but the foundation is very solid. Building a champion takes time, patience, application. But Jannik is a modern player. He has great qualities in dribbling from behind, which are based on pressing and ability to create ball speed from every area of the field.”
Bertolucci then dwelt on Sinner’s progress: “In serving, he has adopted a foot up technique, which seems to have largely reduced the problems that had accompanied him in these early years of stable presence on the ATP circuit. In fact, he may have even eliminated them. In volleys his confidence is growing, allowing him to take advantage of the advantage he has accumulated with previous strokes.”
“To this must be added the calmness that Sinner shows when he plays even very complicated passers. With the work and application of the last few months, clear and valuable improvements can be seen, with his sights always set high and the main goal of the ATP Finals in Turin,” Bertolucci concluded.

All-U.S. semifinal at US Open
Another big man exits the tournament. After the various Alcaraz and Djokovic, Zverev è is also no longer in the running at the US Open. The German è was beaten by Fritz in four sets (7-6 (2) 3-6 6-4 7-6), at the end of a match that è lasted almost three and a half hours. A defeat that leaves a lot of bitterness in Zverev’s mouth. Dreams big for Fritz who, in the semifinals, will face the other American Tiafoe who, in the quarterfinals, wins the match with Dimitrov, forced to retire in the fourth set due to a physical problem: 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 4-1 the partials in favor of Tiafoe.
The United States dreams, after 21 years (Roddick, 2003), of an American winning the U.S. Open. In the meantime, it enjoys Sinner who, thanks to Zverev è’s knockout; increasingly serene in his comfortable position as world No. 1.
