Indian Wells: Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego stop at the quarters with some regrets

Matteo Berrettini/Lorenzo Sonego-Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic 6-7 4-6
Matteo Berrettini’s and Lorenzo Sonego’s adventure in the men's doubles tournament at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 stopped in the quarterfinals. The Italian pair è surrendered in two sets to seeding favorites Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic who won with a final score of 7-6 6-4 after an hour and 37 minutes of play.
A few regrets for Berrettini and Sonego especially in the first partial, in which they went down by a break (2-4) due to a mocking tape, and, after recovering (5-5), missed two consecutive set-points in the tie-break before surrendering by 8 points to 6.
In the second set what made the difference è was a single break, scratched by the number one seeded pair in the seventh game thanks to a great response by Arevalo (4-3). The Salvadoran and Croatian held the break advantage until the final 6-4 with which they qualified for the semifinals of the ‘BNP Paribas Open’.
That leaves only Jasmine Paolini to represent Italy in the Masters 1000 in California: the Tuscan will challenge Russian Liudmila Samsonova, No. 25 in the WTA rankings, for a place in the quarterfinals.

On the intense notes of tango and milonga they è toasted with Pinot Noir Brut from Cantine Vitea and Golf and Wine 1895 during a memorable evening, enhanced by the Gardel Duo (Gianluca Campi on accordion and Claudio Cozzani on piano). The event, held in the concert hall of the Associazione Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala, celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (March 7, 1865).

The grand finale united “Las cuatro estaciones porteñas” by Piazzolla to “Four Seasons” by Vivaldi, closing amid applause and auteur toasts that featured the wines of Antonio Faravelli, the golfing winemaker from Montù Beccaria, in the Pavese region.
