Milan, draw amid booing at San Siro: Genoa snatches point

Yet another setback for Paulo Fonseca’s Milan, stuck at home in a 0-0 draw by Genoa in the Sunday post-match of the 16th day of Serie A: the Rossoneri, who protested a penalty not awarded in the first half, did not celebrate their 125th anniversary in the best way and in the standings slipped to -14 from the leading Atalanta. For Vieira’s men a precious point that is worth 13th place in the standings.

Milan played the game in the first half but Genoa defended well and suffered little. The Rossoneri create intermittently and protest on 20′ for a penalty not awarded for a foul on Liberali. For the rest there were only a few initiatives by Chukwueze and Reijnders: non-existent instead the Grifone in the offensive phase, Pinamonti è too isolated in attack.

Resumption, Morata takes Abraham’s place, the Rossoneri start with a decidedly more aggressive attitude, but always with little concreteness. Fonseca tries to shuffle the cards by inserting Camarda for Liberali, just the rossonero baby tries a header on Leao’s cross without success.

Fonseca tries to shake up his side with the entry of Okafor. Milan accentuates the pressure in the last minutes, Morata hits a crossbar in 79′ shortly afterwards the Spaniard again goes to the conclusion on an assist from Leao but his shot is deflected. At 89’89; shivers for Maignan after Thiaw’s very dangerous back pass: the French goalkeeper somehow saves himself.

Copious booing and protest at the end of the match: Milan slips to -14 from the top.

Monza, Nesta confirmed: “Grateful to the companyà”

Alessandro Nesta remains at the helm of Monza after the defeat against Lecce in the match valid for the 16th day of Serie A. The Brianza club has won just one game so far in the league, but the coach&#39s place at the moment is not in question despite the last position in the standings.

“We went down right away and then they missed the penalty. They gave us the gift with the goal and then we fell back. Today è it was a major setback, we were inferior. We wobbled a bit, we have to regain compactness and solidity, Nesta said in the press conference.

“We must not panic, the ranking è that è and the players are beginning to feel it. We must not panic, the way we play we cannot be frantic. The fans have always stood by us, the club has always supported us.

“I blame myself for many things, I have my faults. During the week I saw the team well and I did not expect to see today&#39s approach. I am glad that despite the ranking they keep me working here. If I stay here I have to do everything to change the situation”.

Guardiola in identity crisis; “I am not good enough”

Manchester City’s incredible late defeat in the derby against United è a huge blow for Pep Guardiola, who was forced to cash in on his eighth defeat in the last 11 games, something unheard of. “There’s not much to say. No defense — they have been incredibly persistent. We haven&#39t lost eight games in two seasons. We cannot defend this. It is not about this player or that player. We gave away goals, è our fault. We do not play with the right calm”.

“I am not good enough. I am the boss, the coach, I have to find solutions and so far I have not found them. This è the realityà. We want to play better, create chances. But at the moment it is not è possible”, he told the BBC after the match.

Manchester City è fifth at 27 points, -9 from Liverpool first in the standings and with one game less.
