“Awake, alert and oriented”: Fiorentina updates on Edoardo Bove

Shortly after the note informing about the video call between Edoardo Bove and his teammates, Fiorentina published on its official website the bulletin regarding the midfielder’s condition: “ACF Fiorentina announces that Edoardo Bove, after spending a quiet night, è was awakened and extubated this morning”;

“Currently è awake, alert and oriented. He spoke with his family, Viola management, coach and teammates who rushed to see him as soon as they received the good news. Further investigations will be carried out in the coming days to determine the cause of the critical situation that occurred yesterday”.

“From Careggi, doctors treating the player confirm that diagnostic investigations are continuing. “Fiorentina thanks the Careggi University Hospital, all doctors and staff for the work done with great humanità and professionalismà. Thanks also go to all the Popolo Viola and the entire world of soccer that, in this delicate moment, have shown great closeness and attention with their messages and support that have given great comfort both to the Club and to Edoardo and his family” concludes the note.

Edoardo Bove è felt ill at minute 20 of the match between Fiorentina and Inter. The midfielder had a moment of difficulty before falling to the ground. Immediate help was given first by teammates and opponents, and soon after by medical staff who transported Bove by ambulance to the hospital.

Edoardo Bove conscious: he video called his teammates

On Monday afternoon Fiorentina issued a note regarding the condition of Edoardo Bove: “ACF Fiorentina informs that, given the reassuring news that arrived during the day and after the video call that Edoardo wanted to make with all his teammates, the Coach and the technical staff gathered at the Viola Park, the team has decided to return immediately to the field and prepare the challenge with Empoli on Wednesday’Empoli.”.

Suddenly, in minute 20 of Fiorentina-Inter, è collapsed to the ground Edoardo Bove, a young midfielder of the lily team. The situation è seemed very complicated right from the start: the boy è was promptly rescued (he è was also given cardiac massage, as reported by Radio Rai) and è an ambulance also entered the field.

Romania in mourning: è died Helmut Duckadam

Romania and the entire soccer world mourns the passing of Helmut Duckadam, who died at the age of 65. The former Romanian goalkeeper wrote one of the most important pages of European soccer history during the legendary 1985-86 Champions Cup final, where his Steaua Bucharest faced Barcelona. During penalty kicks, he was able to parry all four of his opponents’ shots, giving his team a historic victory and becoming the first Romanian footballer to earn a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Duckadam è s career was extraordinary and singular, as he had his peak and his end in a very short time. Born in 1959, he joined Steaua Bucharest at age 23 and wore the redblù jersey for four seasons, from 1982 to 1986.

After retiring from soccer in 1991, the Semlac native è moved to the United States and later è returned to Romania becoming the Romanian club’s ambassador.

Last Sept. 20, Duckadam had undergone his ninth and final heart operation and in an interview told of taking between 18 and 20 medications daily for more than 34 years.
