Paraguay surprises Argentina, disappoints Brazil
Poker of Ecuador against Bolivia
Lots of emotions in the matches valid for the World Cup qualifiers in South America. Brazil doesn’t go beyond 1-1 in the challenge with Venezuela. The Greenoros took the lead through Raphinha but were caught up by Segovia. Vinicius, the Real Madrid ace, has a chance to put Seleçao back in the lead but misses a penalty. Brazil remains third in the overall standings.
Argentina also chews bitterly as it is beaten, in a comeback, by Paraguay (2-1 the final). There’è Messi on the field. The Albiceleste unlocked the score with Lautaro Martinez at 11’11’. For the Nerazzurri captain it is goal number 31 with the national team (joined, in second place All Time, by Higuain and Di Maria).
Paraguay doesn’t go for it and grabs the equalizer with a splendid backhand by Sanabria. Argentina failed to be fluid and, in the end, Paraguay took the lead with Alderete’s goal that turned out to be decisive for a really valuable victory for the Paraguayan national team. Third defeat, out of 11 matches, for the Albiceleste in the round valid for qualification for the next World Cup.
Everything easy, finally, for Ecuador, which got rid of Bolivia with a dry 4-0. Great proof of the class of 2003 Minda, author of a double. The Tricolor dominated far and wide with as many as 17 shots in the Bolivian goal mirror (against only one by the opponents).

NBA: another loss for Dallas, Luka Doncic feels guilty
Dallas’ record è negative at the moment (5-7)
.
Dallas comes to Salt Lake City without Irving and Washington. Against the unconquerable Jazz, Doncic will be relied upon. The Slovenian plays at a very high level (37 points, nine assists and seven rebounds) but, in the last quarter, he goes down, like the rest of the team, allowing the Jazz to come back and take home the victory: 115-113 the final.
On the other side, great performance by Collins, author of 28 points and, most importantly, the basket that sends Doncic and his teammates to the floor. For Dallas, it is the fourth consecutive stop. In the post match, Doncic è took all the blame for the ugly defeat suffered against Utah, particularly for the mistake that allowed Collins to score the winning basket.
“&It was a misunderstanding, I didn t quite understand the directions that came from the bench: è my” fault, the words of the Dallas all-star who, in this start of the regular season, is struggling to find a way for his team to win.
Of note, for the Utah Jazz it è was the first home win since the start of the season. A success that came at the end of a great comeback with a 28 to 16 lead in the decisive last period.

ATP Finals, Jannik Sinner has his say on Umberto Ferrara and Matteo Berrettini
Jannik Sinner comments on Umberto Ferrara’s return to the track
Three wins out of three, six sets won out of six, a round dominated against the best in the world. The real news these days, forò, è is the return to the track of Umberto Ferrara, who despite the case of unintentional contamination in which è Jannik Sinner is still involved will start working together with Matteo Berrettini.
Soè in the post-match press conference against Daniil Medvedev, we asked the world No. 1 if he had had a chance to talk to Umberto and/or Matteo before they started their collaboration: “I saw them in Monte Carlo on the last day before I came to Turin. What I can say è that Umberto è really a good trainer, he will definitely do a great job for and Matteo. He has had so many physical problems in the past, Umberto è very good and he will do a good job with Matteo”.
Returning to the court Jannik è already in the semifinals (the 12th of his remarkable season in 15 tournaments played), where he is still waiting to figure out his next rival. To close out an already resounding 2024: “I have achieved even too much of what I had thought, I never thought I would get to this point soì quickly”.
“These years have passed very quickly, I have made progress and I am very happy to be in this position. But the work never ends: once you want to win a 250, then you want to be in the top 10, then in the top 5”. And then when you’re in front you want to stay there.
