Lazio flies, but standings scare Marco Baroni
Winning does not authorize flying with enthusiasm, at least for now.
Lazio is third in the standings and 3 points behind leading Napoli after Monday night’s win over Cagliari, yet Marco Baroni still preaches calm. The Biancoceleste coach in the post-match at the Olimpico praises the team, but stresses that there is still a lot of work to be done before setting very ambitious goals è yet.
“We are all ambitious, and that è positive. But our main ambition è is to keep working and to always improve,‖ Baroni cautioned to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’ -At this moment it would be a mistake to look too much at the standings, we take the points but we have to look ahead. We are growing and we have a chance to play an important championship, now forò we have to recharge our batteries quickly. Because in two days we challenge a big d’Europe”.
On Lazio’s goals, then, Baroni è clear: “We want to be protagonists in all competitions until the end. We have the players to be able to do it, they are all up to the situation also thanks to their spirit of sacrifice. They are making me understand that we still have room for growth, we must live this season as a challenge to be constantly renewed”.
“In Lazio there are some players who come from a different path, and our job è to help them grow and improve. And someone, like Noslin or Tchaouna, is doing that. We do everything we can, running against time and working on all fronts with a group to which I renew my congratulations”, Baroni concluded.

Cagliari rage: Davide Nicola won’t talk, club riots
The anger in the post-game è skyrocketing.
Cagliari defeated by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, and forced to end the match with nine men for the lightning expulsions of Mina and Adopo sent off by the referee within seconds of each other. A situation that led the Rossoblù to send the ds Nereo Bonato and not the coach Davide Nicola to speak to the press, not hiding a deep disappointment.
“On our part there’s discontent and disappointment with the way the referee handled the match,” Bonato told ‘Sky Sport’. The match direction penalized Cagliari beyond measure, particularly the way the cards were handled. The match was quiet, and to have eight cautioned seems almost impossible. All this è proved decisive for the final result”.
“These are aspects that should be emphasized, becauseé against Lazio had come an important performance by Cagliari. We had taken back the result, then the way the stages following the penalty were handled we didn't like at all – continued Bonato -. The referee cautioned Mina for a foul that occurred while his back was turned, then drew another yellow for the ensuing excitement”.
“These are decisions that penalize us today, but above all they will affect the next game against Milan. It seems to me that on the field the Cagliari players had an attitude that was anything but negative, so more serenity would have been needed in management. I pointed this out to the referee, politely. Becauseé on Luvumbo the situation was not è handled in the same way as others”, concluded Bonato.

Rafa Leao, Mike Maignan also takes sides: ‘We trust him’
Even from comrades come words of great confidence.
Rafa Leao in Milan is having a complicated season, with many benches accumulated in recent weeks. The Rossoneri’s Champions League trip to the Real Madrid field will be forà an opportunity to see him back as a starter, as announced by Paulo Fonseca himself. And Mike Maignan will also è side with his teammate.
“Leao is doing well and every day he continues to work, and he does it with his smile that he has never lost,” Maignan told ‘Sky Sport’ -Maybe he is doing some things that not everyone sees, since in soccer today only goals and assists count. But he is helping Milan a lot, also from a defensive point of view. He is working a lot, and tomorrow as the coach said he will play'”.
Maignan è moreover said he is certain that the very fact of facing Real Madrid will helpà Leao. “These are his matches. We have great confidence in Rafa, even when he doesn’t score or make an assist. The important thing è that he stays what he è that he keeps the will to work and keeps smiling”, said the Milan goalkeeper.
“Leao tomorrow will play from the start,” Fonseca had said in the press conference. “We expect him to do what he can do on the field. The fact that everyone is talking about him does not bother me, because I know how important he is for me and for all of Milan. The fact that you talk about these situations è normal, I però have to follow my own way”.

Lazio first wastes, then exults: 2-1 to Cagliari, is third
A victory, albeit a painful one, to keep flying in the standings.
Lazio is third in Serie A, tied on points with Atalanta and Fiorentina, after Monday evening’s postponement, in which the Biancocelesti won 2-1 against a courageous Cagliari. For Marco Baroni’s team, despite the immediate advantage and the amount of play, the victory came only in the end of the game thanks to a penalty converted by Mattia Zaccagni.
For Lazio, as mentioned, the match started in the best of ways. Already at 2à in fact, the advantage arrives thanks to Dia, able to reiterate in goal a ball handled with some difficulty by Scuffet after a free kick by Pellegrini. Cagliari però attempted an immediate reaction, with Piccoli bricked by Lazzari. Then Makoumbou wasted on Mina’s initiative and Provedel saved everything on Adopo and Zortea. Meanwhile, Castellanos goes very close to doubling the score, but his right-footed shot shatters on the post.
The match remains vibrant, with Noslin and Isaksen dangerous on one side, Luvumbo on the other snatching a very poisonous ball from Gila but not surprising Provedel. They are però the warnings of the equalizer, which arrives at 41′ when Makoumbou serves Luvumbo: the latter’s shot is muffed by the same Gila who actually sends Provedel out of the way and gives the goal to Cagliari.
Immediately after the equalizer, Lazio took the field in the second half with the very clear goal of scoring as soon as possible. But it è not easy: Cagliari closes the spaces, Lazzari and Guendouzi search in vain for Dia, Augello saves on Isaksen, Mina closes the door on Castellanos, Luperto overcomes first on Castellanos and then on Vecino. An episode is needed, which arrives at 75′: foul in the area of Zortea on Pellegrini, Zaccagni transforms the penalty. Cagliari lost Mina and Adopo in a few seconds, both sent off by Ayroldi, and the result did not change anymore.
