Monza wins 2-0 at the field of Spezia, further misleading the Whites.
In the beginning, there is more Spezia. The “biancorossi”, struggling to keep up with the offensive flurries by the hosts. Di Gregorio, alone in the middle of the field, performs a miracle on Kovalenko. And then, as happens so often in soccer, everything changes. Dragowski was unable to stop Ciurria’s left-footed roundabout finish in the 21st. The ball hit the inside of the post and went into the net. The former Ligurian Brianzoli 84 does not rejoice as the ‘Picco” goes silent for a couple of seconds. Semplici’s side takes the blow, but Amian hits a high ball in the 34th-minute with an unaffected header. Monza is calm and Dany Mota’s acrobatics are not far from 2-0. Spezia tries to push immediately after the break: Bastoni tries but doesn’t trouble Di Gregorio. Monza is not beaten and comes close to doubling up again with… Kovalenko. The former Atalanta star, with a clumsy deflection in the air, forces Dragowski into overtime. Local fans scream for the white players to show their best attributes. Amian calls Di Gregorio from the outside to make an easy intervention, just before a Birindelli raid causes havoc on Dragowski’s side. Petagna is also given space at home in Monza (Caprari is out), who gives the ball too long to Ciurria, and then fails to finish a counterattack. Shortly after, the author of biancorosso’s goal knocks Esposito to the ground, and is immediately replaced (Valoti is in, Dany Mota is also gone for Sensi). The free kick by Esposito is just outside. Semplici throws Krollis in the fray. Agudelo has the most verve, but when he gets the ball, he either fails or shoots too high, like with 5′ left. Petagna, on a counterattack, comes close to making the score 2-0. Spezia throws the ball into the box. Monza defends well and, in the middle of recovery, scores with a textbook, counterattack that was set up by Sensi and continued by Machin, and finished by Carlos Augusto who leaves Dragowski with no chance.

All-U.S. semifinal at US Open
Another big man exits the tournament. After the various Alcaraz and Djokovic, Zverev è is also no longer in the running at the US Open. The German è was beaten by Fritz in four sets (7-6 (2) 3-6 6-4 7-6), at the end of a match that è lasted almost three and a half hours. A defeat that leaves a lot of bitterness in Zverev’s mouth. Dreams big for Fritz who, in the semifinals, will face the other American Tiafoe who, in the quarterfinals, wins the match with Dimitrov, forced to retire in the fourth set due to a physical problem: 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 4-1 the partials in favor of Tiafoe.
The United States dreams, after 21 years (Roddick, 2003), of an American winning the U.S. Open. In the meantime, it enjoys Sinner who, thanks to Zverev è’s knockout; increasingly serene in his comfortable position as world No. 1.
