McTominay overcomes

Scott McTominay overdoes in the Sportal.it poll, in which 80 journalists and communicators participated, whom we thank for their willingness: the Scotsman of Italian champion Napoli is the king of Serie A 2024-25.

Three preferences we asked for: we awarded 5 points to the first, 3 to the second and 1 to the third. That of the former Manchester United midfielder was a real domination.

Thuram 26, Reijnders 23, Dumfries 16, Lukaku 11, Lautaro Martinez and Lookman 8, Bastoni and Sommer 7, Dybala and Nico Paz 4, Acerbi, Anguissa, Barella and De Gea 3, Calhanoglu, Coppola, Diao, Di Gregorio, Duda, Ederson, Leao, Mancini, Meret, Ndicka, Ndoye, Rrahmani and K. Roland Garros: Ben Shelton breaks Matteo Gigante’s dream

Published

on

Ben Shelton breaks Matteo Gigante’s dream at Roland Garros. After the feat with Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Italian failed to repeat with the U.S., number 13 in the world and in the seeding, who knocked him out in three sets (6-3 6-3 6-4) after two hours and 19 minutes of play.

In the first set, what made the difference was a break, obtained by the American in the fourth game at the fourth useful opportunity (3-1). Shelton concedes crumbs on serve and preserves the lead until the final 6-3 with which he makes the first partial his.

The second set began with a four-game run by the world number 13: Gigante recovered a break disadvantage in the eighth game (3-5) but lost serve again in the next game (3-6), finding himself down two sets.

The third set is the most balanced: it is the service game that rules until the’last game, when the Roman loses his serve after cancelling a match point and thus has to say goodbye to Paris, while Shelton flies to the round of 16.

Published

on

The first outing of the season in Italy for the men’Italvolley ended in defeat. In an intense and hard-fought match, the Azzurri were overcome in the fifth set by Iran (25-23, 18-25, 25-14, 21-25, 11-15) in the friendly played at Pala Arpad Weisz in Val di Fiemme.

“Today we played five more important sets in this phase of work; partials during which we alternated positive situations with others that highlighted the need for improvement – stressed coach De Giorgi -. These matches are important because they must give us insights, beyond the result that we still pursue as always, necessary to make us ready for the first seventh of the Volleyball Nations League“.

“We aim to do a few things better from the point of view of quality and continuity. We are very happy to go to Padua and play another important match for us remembering a great man like Paso; we want to honor his memory in the best way” concluded the men’s national team coach.

On Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Padua, the Azzurri will be back on the field again against Iran, in the BPER Test Match “Memorial Pasinato,” scheduled at the Kioene Arena and broadcast live on RaiPlay, Rai News and Discovery+.

PSG-Inter, Nicolò Barella jokes about Gianluigi Donnarumma

Published

on

Nicolò Barella spoke at a press conference on the eve of PSG–Inter, the Champions League final, scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. at Munich&#8217s Allianz Arena. “We are ready, we are loaded – he began -, with a lot of respect for a very strong team. We deserve a good finish to the season”.

“They have a very strong midfield, as does all of PSG, otherwise they would not be in the Champions final – added the Nerazzurri midfielder -. It is the beating heart, however, as I have always said, our strength lies in the team. We proved it with Barcelona: without a great group and a great team we would not have been able to play a game like that”.

“I have dreamed many times of replaying a match like this – admitted the Inter vice-captain -, it is the dream of every child to play these matches: they are the most difficult, but they leave you with something inside, a great emotion. Last time we played a great game, but the victory did not come. This time we will try to be more careful with the details, the cup is the dream of all of us”.

He then revealed a backstory with Donnarumma: “We spoke yesterday, we talked about everything except soccer. We talked about family, about the national team, with Gigio I have a lot of respect: he is a friend and I respect him like all PSG players. I hope he will be good”.

“If my career was based only on goals it would be uphill… There is no such thing as only goals, if it came tomorrow I would be more than happy. The most important thing for me is to give these guys a hand” concluded Barella.
