Here are Lorenzo Musetti’s words after his convincing victory over Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan in the second round of the men’s singles at Roland Garros.

“It depends so much from match to match, but awareness has been the key word this month, going into the court knowing that I can beat anyone, before I lacked – Musetti said in the post-match conference, quotes reported by ubitennis.com -. Then maybe I was still winning however now it is a different feeling. The unpredictability of my game is an integral part, already mine, what I have acquired in this span of time is consistency, being more orderly, which gives me serenity on a mental level. It’s all the result of a click that was there but also a good daily work that I’m doing.”

“I put in a solid performance from start to finish despite having some ups and downs in the first and third. They were not easy conditions to play on, but I found a way to show my tennis and my game. If I had to find a click for my confidence I would say after the Monte Carlo final, from there something clicked inside that I had, I recovered there a set in every match, and many times I was close to losing. I felt like another player in the daily routine, and even in Rome and Madrid I felt this step forward.”

“The speech is not only physical, about winning in three sets. It’s also good for me on the level of confidence and the state of form I’m showing, adding the physical part as well, stress, so many things affect the match stretching. I don’t like to self-judge however an 8 I give myself and in the second set I had very high level of continuity in all points. However, in the first and third I dropped the intensity a little bit.” Finally a line on soccer. “Juventus? It is experiencing a difficult situation. On Saturday I will be rooting for Inter, an Italian team, they played well against Barcelona. I will try to watch it.”

Jasmine Paolini spoke in a press conference after defeating Australian Alja Tomljanovic: “I didn&#8220t think much about the points, but obviously also talking with the coach we came here trying to do the best, thinking match by match and not about last year”.

“I played well in Rome, unlike in 2024. I have to try to think that I am there, I am playing great tennis come what may. But it is also not easy not to focus on last year…that is what I am trying to do though. I’m glad that the other players have a good opinion of me, so I try to strive every day for that to last, and also in being a good person”.

“Playing on the Chatrier again is great, I played better than in the first round, and it’s wonderful. I came here trying to play well, I played well in Rome…it is a good problem to have to deal with emotion after a big win. I think about that, what happened in Rome for now I have to somehow forget it”.

“Playing singles and doubles was good today. The conditions were different in doubles, but it was good to be able to play a couple more balls. I am glad I never gave up, even when things were not going well I was there, trying to work and improve”.

Here are statements from Mexican Isaac Del Toro after his solo finish at the finish line of the 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia in Bormio that allowed him to consolidate the pink jersey.

“I had a bad day yesterday, but it can happen to anyone. I think a lot of us were in trouble. This is the first time I am in charge of a Grand Tour, so I have to adapt to this new dimension.”

“Carapaz is a very dangerous rival, and he remains so even after today’s stage. In the finale I played smart and, when I saw that I had opened a small gap, I tried to push until the end to keep the others at arm&#8217s length.”

“My jubilation was first born for fun, since I did it at the Milan-Turin because my zipper broke. Now, however, it is also a way to thank the people on the roads for the support. In every small town I hear people calling my name and that is a source of pride for me. I am grateful to all the Italian fans”.
