Already certain to land in the Top 10 for the first time in his career thanks to his landing in the third round of the Madrid Masters 1000, Lorenzo Musetti took another step forward by also beating Stefanos Tsitsipas (by the way, for the second time in less than a month) to qualify for the round of 16 at the Spanish tournament. But ranking seems to be the last thing on the mind for the Carrara man.

“I&#8217ve already said it but I repeat it: I don–t want to look at the ranking,– Musetti told ‘Sky Sport‘ after the win against the Greek -. My goal is to win all the matches I face: confidence and continuity are there, now I&#8217m also more aware and experience counts in certain matches”.

The 2002-born tennis player, an Olympic bronze medalist in Paris 2024, then spoke about the difficulties related to the power outage that left all of mainland Spain (as well as Portugal and parts of southern France and Morocco) without power on Monday, adding a joke: “We are little without electricity, we walked a lot to get back to the hotel but maybe that helped me find my concentration for today, a good walk is always useful”.

Musetti is seeking his third career ATP title, his first at the Masters 1000 level: his only two tournaments won on the major circuit are the Hamburg ATP 500 and the Naples ATP 250, both in 2022. Four, on the other hand, are the finals he lost: Queen’s ATP 500 against Tommy Paul, Umag ATP 250 against Francisco Cerundolo and Chengdu ATP 250 against Shang Jungcheng in 2024, Masters 1000 Monte Carlo against Carlos Alcaraz just two weeks ago.

It’lasted 192 days Fernando Gago’s adventure on the bench of Boca Juniors. The former Real Madrid and Roma midfielder, in fact, was exonerated by the Argentine club after the defeat in the “Superclasico” with River Plate 2-1. Announcing the decision was Boca Juniors board member Mauricio Serna.

“We have made a decision: Gago and his technical staff have ended their relationship with the club. We made it very calmly. It was not easy because he is a man who is at home here, but we have to make decisions. After the knockout with River we tried and found a way for Gago to no longer be our coach” the executive began.

“Herròn will take over the leadership of the first team momentarily and in the meantime we will make our considerations to choose the best possible coach” added Mauricio Serna.

Despite qualifying for the round of 16 of the Torneo Apertura 2025, Fernando Gago is paying dearly for his failure to qualify for the Copa Libertadores, elimination from the semifinals of the Copa Argentina and defeat in the Superclasico with River.

The anticipation grows day by day for the Final Four of the Women’s Champions League, which will see as many as three Italian teams involved out of the four participants, although it is the non-Italian team, Vakifbank, that will enjoy the home court factor, since it will be played in Istanbul. The first of the two semifinals, scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, will feature Imoco Conegliano and Vero Volley Milano, an immediate rematch of the Scudetto final that smiled on the Venetian club.

As for the lineup coached by Stefano Lavarini, charging the environment is Paola Egonu, who wants to dispel the taboo of her Milan seasons, which have seen her always come close to a trophy, but without winning it. Among other things, the Italian champion is a former of both Imoco and Vakifbank, and with the latter she won the Champions League in 2023, just a few weeks before her move to Milan.

At Sky Sport microphones, Egonu didn&#8217t mince words and expounded on her desire for a rematch: “We know our opponents – said the 1998-class opposite player -, we hope to play a high-level match. The most important thing will be to give our best, then we will do the math. It will not be easy, but our goal is victory”.

The second semifinal of the 2024-2025 Women’s Champions League will also be played on Saturday, not earlier than 6 p.m. (the’time will depend on the conclusion of Conegliano-Milan). Facing Vakifbank will be the third Italian team in the Final Four, Scandicci, looking for its third European success after the Challenge Cup won in 2022 and the CEV Cup won in 2023.
