Lyon, sting on Paulo Fonseca

Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca è was suspended from his technical role until next November 30 by the disciplinary commission of the French League for threatening the referee in a ‘head-to-head’ during the Ligue 1 match between his team and Brest (2-1) after being sent off.

In addition to that, until Sept. 15 he will not have access to his locker room. The suspension does not è apply for now in European competitions and the Portuguese will sit on the bench in the Europa League match tomorrow against Steaua Bucharest.

Truly a terrible season for the Portuguese coach, who had been signed by AC Milan last summer but è was put through the door on December 30 before landing a month later in Ligue 1 at Lyon. From 2019 to 2021 he had instead coached Roma, picking up a fifth and a seventh place finish.

” We knew we would have to suffer but then we did not suffer so much. I am very satisfied with the boys,” he continued, “The team follows me, there’è great willingness’”.

“Bastoni played an excellent game, he è made himself available to the team, he è alternated with Acerbi. È a very strong, world-class defender but he è made himself available and played the fifth without any problems”.

Instead, here are the words to Sky Sport of Feyenoord coach Robin Van Persie: “The players gave everything on the pitch and thanks to a good save on a penalty that for me was not there, we are still in the game. And we think we can make it next week in Milan”.

” We will have to run more, but in the second half we really tried: è it was difficult to keep up the pace of the pressure. Inter players have great quality with the ball, we are still in the game fortunately: today we wanted to achieve more, but we are still in the game”.
