At Doha Matteo Berrettini succumbs at a distance against Jack Draper

Mateo Berrettini’s adventure in the Doha ATP 500 ends in the quarterfinals. The Roman, currently number 35 in the world, è was beaten the distance by bitannic Jack Draper, number 16, with a score of 4-6 6-4 6-3.

The first to save break points è Berrettini, who nullified two in the second game, then è he snatched service from’his opponent at 4-3. On 5-4 the Roman misses two set points but also has to cancel four beak balls, fotunately the third set point è the good one at the conclusion of an 18-point game.

In the second set Berrettini has to save two consecutive beak balls on 3-2 to Draper, then the conclusion of the partial è similar but opposite to that of the first becauseé the Briton misses three set points, but Matteo misses in turn four balls for 5-5 before surrendering on the fourth set point and 20 points.

Unfortunately, Berrettini loses his serve in the fourth game of the third set and è the decisive break: the Azure misses one at the break on 2-4 and on 5-3 he cancels a match point but on the second he has to throw in the towel after two hours and 20 minutes of play.

Andrey Rublev and Jack Draper are the finalists in the ATP 500 tournament in Doha.

The Russian, the No. 5 seed, beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets with a score of 7-5 3-6 7-6 to win his third final at the Qatar Open. Having lost the first one in 2018, he will conquer the victory in 2020.
