Giro d’Algarve, cancelled first stage won by Filippo Ganna

A mistake that could have turned out to be dramatic: the finish of the first stage of the Tour of the Algarve, in Lagos, turned into chaos before being canceled due to lack of signage. The vast majority of competitors took the wrong route 800 meters from the finish line.

In the absence of barriers or a signal at the entrance to the last traffic circle to tell runners to turn into the left lane — the right lane serves as a diversion for the sports directors’ cars — the bulk of the group took a wrong turn, except for about 30 of them.

Among the few who took the right road, Filippo Ganna crossed the finish line first with a good lead over Frenchman Romain Grégoire and Swiss Jan Christen. But organizers later announced on ‘X’ that the stage é was canceled.

For the sprinters, who had made their teams work throughout the race, è it was a hoax. “È a joke! È absolutely ridiculous!” – cursed Austrian Marco Haller – The first one followed the organization&#39s bike and the others went after him. The responsibility è è of the organizers.  There could have been consequences…. Fortunately, it è wasn’t so “. Most of the group actually ran behind the spectators, darting at more than 60 km per hour.

No break point in the second set, again with only two games going to advantages. Genoa, a striker stops for at least two weeks

Stop for at least two weeks, after which he will be reevaluated, for Genoa’s Portuguese striker Vitinha. The player had stopped in the second half of the challenge with Venezia last Monday complaining of a flexor problem that the examinations to which he è underwent today confirmed.

It is a muscle sprain that will be reevaluated in two weeks. The player will therefore definitely miss the matches with Inter and Empoli and is unlikely to be available for the away match in Cagliari.

The return appears possible, also considering the previous clinical picture of the player who has already stopped two in the season for muscular problems, missing five matches between October and November and two last month after complaining of a similar problem in the away match in Lecce in the first match of 2005, just in view of the return match with the Salentini scheduled on March 16 at the Ferraris even if the subsequent stop could incline the club not to force the timing.

Meanwhile, only the convalescent players worked today at the Signorini, in addition to Vitinha the unavailable players are Ahanor, Thorsby and Badelj, while the group will resume training tomorrow in view of Saturday night’s match against Inter Milan.
