Contestation in Milan: “Go to work” and “Yankee go home”
Milan challenged: “Go to work”.
In spite of winning the Italian Super Cup, it certainly cannot be considered positive Milan’s year.
The Rossoneri fans, disappointed with the’progress of the season, staged a hard protest at the Meazza match with Monza that closed the championship of the two Lombardy teams.
No banners displayed and choruses leaving little room for the’imagination: “To work, go to work”, “Are you leaving or not?” and “Yankee go home” among them. Hailed Paolo Maldini with an ad hoc chorus. After the vigorous protest, the Milan fans blatantly abandoned their seats in the stands, leaving a vast and visible hole in the heart of the Curva Sud.
Very few biancorossi fans also showed up for the ’appointment at the ‘Scala del Calcio’: Alessandro Nesta’s team, long since relegated to Serie B, will play in well other stages next season, most likely with another coach on the bench.
