Casper Ruud will be Jannik Sinner's opponent in the semifinals of the Nitto ATP Finals 2024. The Norwegian tennis player needed only one set to qualify for the next stage, but the world number six wanted to put the icing on the cake by beating Andrey Rublev in the third and final match of the group stage. Speaking at a press conference, the Oslo native è expressed himself in no uncertain terms ahead of the challenge with the South Tyrolean.
“I think Jannik is clearly favored. He’s the best player in the world all season, he plays at home and he hasn't lost a set yet all week. He’s the tennis player to beat this year and I will try to do my best, even though he seems to have almost forgotten how to lose. He will see if he can find a way to try to bother him. Heò will be ready for the most difficult match of my season” began the Norwegian tennis player.
“I knew I only needed one set to qualify, so at the beginning of the match with Rublev I was a bit nervous. When I got the first set I could breathe a little bit more. I focused on the match and finished as best I could with a good final set” continued the world number six.
“It’s hard to play against the best players in the world, but è it's nice because you feel that you're an underdog and you can play freely and you know that if you don't bring your highest level you'll probably lose&#quot; added the Oslo native.
“Tennis è interesting sometimes. I don't know what I'm doing better this week than the last few, maybe the’only thing è the serve, as I'm serving really well” concluded Casper Ruud.
The Norwegian and Jannik Sinner have met only twice so far. On both occasions to triumph è it was the South Tyrolean without conceding a single set to his opponent. The last precedent between the two dates back to the quarterfinals of the Vienna tournament in 2021, where the Italian won over the Oslo native with a score of 7-5 6-1.

Jorge Martin can finally make his debut on’Aprilia and in the MotoGP World Championship after missing the first races due to injury. Doctors have given the go-ahead for his return to the track, ruling him fit to compete in practice and the Qatar Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion will take to the track Friday on the No. 1 Aprilia for the first time in an official test since the disastrous crashes that caused him some fractures in winter testing and in training.
Martin’s goal is to adapt as soon as possible to the new bike in order to have his say over the course of the season, although the train for the World Championship seems to have now departed, given the current pace and superiority of the Ducatis and in particular Marc Marquez, Pecco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez.
Martin won the 2024 World Championship with the Ducati’s satellite Pramac team bike, bending Bagnaia.
