At Città of Mexico triumph of Carlos Sainz and Ferrari

Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari triumphs in the Mexico City Grand Prix preceding the McLaren of Lando Norris and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc who è third. Fourth and fifth Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the Mercedes, sixth world champion Max Verstappen in the Red Bull.

As always Verstappen è the best at the start and at the end of the very long straight Sainz, who è already; behind the Dutchman, cuts the first corner remains in front but obviously has to let the world champion pass, but in the middle of the group Albon crashes into Tsunoda who ends up against the wall and then the safety car enters the track. Meanwhile, Perez is penalized 5 seconds for false start, actually è è because heé was clearly ahead of the starting pitch.

When we restart, on the ninth lap Sainz surprises Verstappen with a very long braking move and overtakes him, the next lap Norris also tries but once again fails to pass, or rather, he passes by cutting the corner after Verstappen has thrown him off, the Dutchman repasses him in front, the two touch, they both go out of the track limits and Leclerc takes the opportunity to pass them both and get behind Sainz! Moral of the story, Verstappen is penalized 20 seconds and not 5 for the second maneuver, and he will have to serve them at the pit stop!”

Max stops at the end of lap 26°, Norris at the end of lap 30° and in the next two laps è the turn of the two Ferraris, first Leclerc and then Sainz. Verstappen loses a dozen positions com the prolonged stop but in a few laps he regains the points zone and climbs up to sixth position behind the Mercedes of Russell who è fourth and Hamilton who è fifth and battling each other.

The first three positions seem to be crystallized with Sainz ahead of Leclerc and Norris but the Briton slowly gets closer to the Monegasque and when he è on him, with nine laps to go, Leclerc goes long and miraculously avoids the wall of the last corner but Norris passes him. With six laps to go Hamilton takes fourth place from teammate Russell.

Sainz crosses the finish line victorious, for him è his fourth Formula 1 win and second of the season after the one in Melbourne, Australia, for Ferrari è his fifth win of 2024 and third in the last five races. Norris and Leclerc move closer to Verstappen in the world standings at 47 and 71 points behind respectively but the margin è still reassuring for the Dutchman with four races and two sprints to go.

Leclerc gained an extra point with the fastest lap made on the last lap because the team made him stop as his lead over the Mercedes was very wide. In the constructors’ standings, the Maranello marque bypasses Red Bull by 25 lengths and moves to 29 from McLaren. Closing out the top ten, in the order from seventh to 10th, are Kevin Magnussen in Haas, Oscar Piastri in McLaren, Nico Hulkenberg in Haas and Pierre Gasly in Alpine.

ATP Finals, Jannik Sinner and all the combinations for the semifinals

In the evening, the challenge with the American Fritz

Today, in Turin, as far as the ATP Finals program is concerned, it is the turn of ìl Nastase group, then Sinner. The world No. 1, after beating, without any major headaches, De Minaur, aims to overcome the American Fritz, fresh from his fine success, on the first day, against Medvedev. A match that could open the door to the semifinals for the blue outfielder.

Counting in hand, if De Minaur, in the early afternoon match, beats Medvedev (who appeared unfocused in his debut with Fritz) and, at the same time, Sinner folds the American as happened at the US Open final, here is that the Italian would be certain to qualify, from first in the rankings, for the semifinals of the 2024 edition ATP Finals.

Sinner è in high spirits and knows that, winning the pass to the semifinals with a day in advance would also be a good shot to better dose his energy. Clearly a lot will depend on De Minaur, although beating Fritz è however, it is crucial to look at the continuation of the tournament with optimism. By winning with the American, even if Medvedev were to De Minaur, Sinner would have something to smile about with two wins out of two matches played (and, in fact, the near certainty of passage to the round).

Compounding Alcaraz’s uphill start (bad loss in his opener against Ruud), Sinner è right now, the clear favorite to win the ATP Finals. Today è a key day to certify his No. 1 status and put even more pressure on his opponents.

The Cavs off to their best start since the Warriors (2015/16)

.

Cleveland continues to impress. Thanks to a stunning performance by Mitchell (36 points), the Cavs also bent the Bulls’ resistance (119-113 the final), bringing their record to 12 wins and no losses. To find such a dazzling start, one has to go back to the Warriors of the 2015/16 season, those of the initial 24 wins (they would later close the season with a 73-9 record).

“It’s good to be part of history. Nothing should be taken for granted, especially these feats. We are doing it in so many different ways. There’è always someone who, every time, sounds the charge. However, è always an effort from the whole team”, Mitchell&#39s words reported by ESPN.

Applause also to Wembanyama, an absolute star in San Antonio’s win over Sacramento (116-96). The Spurs all-star dominated far and wide, ending the game with 34 points, 14 rebounds and also six assists. A constant and devastating presence in the middle of the court.

In the other games of the night, OKC è got rid of the LA Clippers (134-128, 45 points from a spectacular Gilgeous-Alexander) while New Orleans è was beaten by Brooklyn (107-105). Excellent and important win also by Houston: 107-92 against Washington.

The words of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori

Big win for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, who avenged the final they lost at the Australian Open and in less than an hour dominated Bopanna and Ebden far and wide. What made the difference, according to Bolelli è was the response: ” a key point in doubles. I have always said that when we can raise the bar in response we become even stronger”, explains Simone.

“We serve well, we cover the net well and we play well from the back” and today it è showed in a particular way. Lots of quality solutions” for the two blues, who more” times left the audience of the’Inalpi Arena breathless.

“For me, this qualification è was a dream”, says Vavassori, host. “There’s no favorite couple here, we are all competitive. I imagined I would receive a lot of warmth from the audience, but I did not imagine so much”.

On Wednesday, against Krawietz and Puetz, a match that canò already be worth a historic qualification: “We know them very well, we beat them in Australia and Halle and we lost to them in New York”. But in Turin, with the whole crowd to push the Azzurri, it will be a whole different story.
