Charles Leclerc at Monza outperformed even Michael Schumacher.

A feat that rewrites the historical almanacs of the Cavallino.

Charles Leclerc in Monza experienced one of the most glorious days of his career, giving himself and Ferrari one of the most beautiful victories in many years. His triumph at the Italian Grand Prix, which came in the same season as that of the Monaco Grand Prix, moreover, represents a rather rare precedent. That places the Monegasque driver in a small club of which no less than Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, among others, are not members.

Monte Carlo and Monza, in fact, represent not only two of the most anticipated Formula 1 events of the year. Above all, the two historic circuits have very different, if not opposite, technical characteristics. A detail that has made victories by the same driver on both circuits in the same season extremely rare. In the case of Ferrari even extremely rare.

Consider that before Leclerc in 2024, only one driver from the Cavallino had happened to win at Monaco and Monza in a single championship. That was Jody Scheckter, to whom the feat succeeded in that historic 1979 that also graduated him world champion. This means that even Schumacher, who also won the two Grands Prix several times in his triumphant years with Ferrari, has always missed that historic one-two.

Besides Scheckter, in fact, the only ones to achieve it were Stirling Moss in 1956, Ronnie Peterson in 1974, Alain Prost in 1985, Ayrton Senna in 1990 and 1992, Fernando Alonso in 2007, Sebastian Vettel in 2011 and Max Verstappen in 2023. And none of them was behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

No one like Jannik Sinner in the Slams, but now there’s Daniil Medvedev

The Russian l’ve eliminated him in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon

Overcoming, in three sets, even the Paul obstacle, Sinner è earned himself a place among the top eight at the US Open. No small accomplishment, considering how many bigs were lost along the way during the tournament (Alcaraz and Djokovic above all). By beating the American, the world number 1 has hit a truly significant milestone.

He became, in fact, the only tennis player to have reached the quarterfinals in all Slam events this season. He’s only managed to do so, demonstrating why he is, at present, No. 1 in the world. Now, however, on his way is the great rival, namely Medvedev. As is well known, the Russian eliminated him in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon (in five sets).

In fact, this is an early final, considering that Medvedev, on paper, è the only big man left on the US Open draw along with Sinner himself. It is a challenge that promises sparks with the Italian who will try to improve a statistic in which he è losing. In fact, the Russian leads in the previous records: seven wins to five.

“With Medvedev it will be very tough, physically and mentally, I hope it will be a good match and that you can have fun” the words of Sinner himself spoken at the end of the match he won against the American Paul. The Russian is having a masterful tournament, playing at a very high level but Sinner is well physically, è ready for the challenge and, best to remember, è the number 1 in the world.

Milan: Ismael Bennacer does not leave, Adrien Rabiot does not arrive

Fonseca has already reinstated it, it will come in handy

Bennacer, after being considered redundant throughout the summer market session (so much so that he missed a few training sessions because he was “on the market”), has found out his future: he stays at AC Milan. The opportunity’to go and play in the rich Saudi Pro League did not è materialize and, therefore, Bennacer will continue his adventure at AC Milan.

The closing of the market in Saudi Arabia has sealed the end of the soap opera. Fonseca will have, therefore, at his disposal, Bennacer at least until January. A valuable element, if we consider how instrumental he was in winning the Scudetto in 2022 with Pioli on the bench to guide him.

Bennacer’s stay at the Diavolo closed, for good, the Rossoneri club’s doors to Rabiot. The Frenchman, having ended his long adventure at Juventus, seemed to be able to settle at AC Milan but, in the end, the negotiation never è got off the ground. The French midfielder, unemployed luxury, will have to look for another team.

Actually, the only possible route seems to be Turkey, maybe right at Galatasaray, together with Osimhen. Maybe not the very first choice (not even for the Nigerian outgoing from Napoli) but better than staying unemployed luxury. Meanwhile, with Bennacer’s confirmation, the Diavolo è complete. Fonseca now knows who he will be able to count on for this season, which is currently off to an uphill start.

US Open, Jannik Sinner sweeps Tommy Paul in three sets: he’s in the quarters

World No. 1 has never made it past the quarterfinals at the US Open

Another great performance by Sinner. The Italian betrayed no emotion and got rid of the home idol Paul in three sets: 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 the partials in favor of the world number 1 who thus conquers the pass for the quarterfinals of the last Slam of the season where, waiting for him, there is Medvedev, his executioner at Wimbledon.

Sinner’s start is not one for anthology. He lost serve twice in the first set but è did well to fight back and take home the set in the tie-break. Very hard-fought second set, with the American doing everything to ruin Sinner’s plans but without succeeding. Another tie-break and 2-0 Sinner. Embittered, Paul begins to lose confidence in his own means. Sinner, like the world No. 1 that he is è, inserts the high gears and closes the file with a comfortable 6-1.

A test of great substance that confirms that Sinner is tremendously focused on his mission, which is to try to take home what would be his second Slam of the season (he won the Australian Open). Meanwhile è he has become the only person this season to have reached the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slam events. Not a bad achievement.

Now, on his way, there’s that Medvedev who, even lately, è managed to beat him. In fact, the record speaks for itself: 7-5 in favor of the Russian who, like Sinner, is having an excellent US Open. The Wimbledon rematch is worth a spot in the semifinals.
