Six Nations, Gonzalo Quesada summons 33 for France

The technical commissioner of the Italian men’s national rugby team, Gonzalo Quesada, has made official the list of 33 athletes summoned for the training camp, in preparation for the match against France, valid for the third day of the Guinness Six Nations 2024, scheduled for Sunday, February 25 at 4 p.m. at the Groupama Stadium in Lille, a match that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and free-to-air on TV8.

In the front line, Simone Ferrari returns after the injury that forced him to miss the first two commitments of the Six Nations. Confirmations for Leonardo Marin in the three-quarter department and Matteo Canali in the second line, with the latter receiving his first call-up in the pre-Ireland gathering.

Francois Mey, who had taken part in the first 2024 gathering of the men’s senior national team in Verona, rejoins the group while Harlequins winger Louis Lynagh, son of Benetton Rugby’s legendary Australian opener Michael, is selected for the first time: born in Treviso on December 3, 2000, the London club winger è fresh off a signing by Benetton starting in July 2024.

Negri, Lorenzo Cannone and Iachizzi, who are continuing their rehabilitation at their home franchise, will be missing. Also unavailable will be Pietro Ceccarelli following the finding of an injury at his home club.

Italy’s technical staff, after a discussion with the player following the Dublin match, decided by mutual agreement with him not to select Tommaso Allan for the third day of the Tournament. The Perpignan three-quarter asked to observe a period of rest from international activity after taking part seamlessly in the entire 2023 World Rugby windows, including the summer preparation for the Rugby World Cup.

“Tommaso è an excellent professional and, more importantly, a person of unquestionable value. Men, even before athletes, are at the center of our evaluations and è that is why, after talking with Tommaso and fully understanding his needs, we decided together with him for an additional rest period” said ct Gonzalo Quesada.

All-U.S. semifinal at US Open

Another big man exits the tournament. After the various Alcaraz and Djokovic, Zverev è is also no longer in the running at the US Open. The German è was beaten by Fritz in four sets (7-6 (2) 3-6 6-4 7-6), at the end of a match that è lasted almost three and a half hours. A defeat that leaves a lot of bitterness in Zverev’s mouth. The German was aiming to reach at least the final.

A feat for the American who, dragged by the home crowd, won the first semifinal of a Slam event. After winning the first set on tie-break, Fritz suffered the return of Zverev, who took home the second partial with a peremptory 6-3. The momentum seemed to be in the German’s hands but Fritz escaped on 3-0. Zverev recovers but gives up at the più beautiful. Spectacular fourth set. Zverev tries everything but, once again, the tie-break costs him dearly. He loses it 7-3 and says goodbye to the tournament.

Dreams big for Fritz who, in the semifinals, will face the other American Tiafoe who, in the quarterfinals, wins the match with Dimitrov, forced to retire in the fourth set due to a physical problem: 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 4-1 the partials in favor of Tiafoe.

The United States dreams, after 21 years (Roddick, 2003), of an American winning the U.S. Open. In the meantime, it enjoys Sinner who, thanks to Zverev &egrave’s knockout; increasingly serene in his comfortable position as world No. 1.
