Milan, Stefano Pioli: “Take us out of the Scudetto fight”

Here are the words of AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli to DAZN microphones after the 3-1 victory against Roma in the first match of the return leg.

“On 2-1 we had reopened the game, we had to close it when we had the chances to score the third goal. The third goal gave us more serenity in the final. The outside attackers did the job we asked of them. With their form we work more with the full-backs. We waited for them to avoid giving Roma depth. We did a decent defensive phase, but you can always do better”.

“The market? The club knows there are needs and is working on it. We will see if we can take some opportunitiesà to cover some of the holes we have from injuries. È it was nice to have Cardinale in the locker room before the game. He supported and stimulated us, confirmed that the club will always be ambitious, always respecting the budget. I am not talking about the budget for the January market becauseè I am not aware”.

“Take us out of the Scudetto fight (smiles, ed.). We have to make the race only about ourselves. We have a clear goal: we made a decent first round, now we want to make a very good second round. It won’t be easy, we have to pedal, but we only think about the next game, in Udine it è never been easy for us. We could have had a few more points è. We pay for those four matches in which we scored only two points, not playing badly. But let’s not look at the past, let’s look at the present and the future. We can have our say in the league and in the Europa League”.
