Inter devastating in Monza, a double each for Calhanoglu and Lautaro
È an Inter team at force 5: at the Brianteo stadium it overwhelms Monza 5-1 in the first day of the second half of Serie A and goes +5 over Juventus at the top of the standings-
Immediately Inter after three minutes: Barella for Dimarco who with his low left volley puts just wide. At’11’ the Nerazzurri claim a hand touch of the’ex Gagliardini in the area, the’referee Rapuano goes to the Var and grants the penalty kick that Calhanoglu as usual turns clearing Sorrentino.
On 14’ the immediate double: Dimarco crosses from the left and from two steps Lautaro puts in a split for goal number 17 of the season in Serie A. The chances for the guests are not counted, one of the most sensational è the one that on 22’ Thuram sends wide even though the right volley in acrobatics was not easy.
At 29’ Monza shortened the distance with a Caldirola’s shoulder shot deflected into the net by Pessina’s header who, however, was caught offside by the Var and the goal was nullified. On 44’ Mkhitaryan’s diving header puts it wide from a step but he is whistled for an offside that there’è.
Resume. At 56’ Monza unnecessarily claims a penalty for a hand touch by Pavard on Dani Mota’s cross. At 60’, a minute after Palladino è was ejected for repeated protests, Mkhitaryan on a counterattack on the left crosses for Thuram, indtetro touch for Calhanoglu who right-footed it through Sorrentino.
In 66’ the Brianzoli’s extreme defender performs a miracle on Pavard’s header from a cross from the left by Bastoni. At 68’ penalty for Monza for a stomping of Darmian on Dani Mota, Pessina with the left hand transforms clearing Sommer: 3-1. Monza believes in it: at 75’ Sommer repels a shot by Colombo.
But at’83’ Rapuano awards a second penalty to Inter for Akpa Akpro’s foul on Frattesi, who came in for Barella, there’è Calhanoglu, who came out after the 3-0, and on the penalty spot goes Lautaro who dispatches Sorrentino. At’88’ the 5-1: Mkhitaryan on a counterattack for Thuram who controls, dribbles the man and inserts left-footed at the first post.

It’s easy to tell that I won the Champions League or that I won the World Cup, but you also have to tell that I lost a derby 5-1 and that I left the Olimpico in a helicopter. If you are given up for dead, you have to bring out the fire in you. Would I reconfirm myself next season? No, given the results”.

When there were 30 minutes to the end of FP2 resumed the activity on the track, interrupted for the Jack Doohan’s very bad accident.
But the red flags were soon back flying for the’Fernando Alonso off the track, ended up in the sand without consequences for driver and car.
The tow truck had to intervene, however, to pull the’Aston Martin out of the gravel. Meanwhile, Doohan is at the medical center for checks.
Moral of the fairy tale, the second free practice session was interrupted four times by red flags, two due to Doohan and Alonso accidents and two due to principles of fire on the grass at the edge of the track due to very strong winds.

Federica Brignone spent a quiet night at the La Madonnina Clinic in Milan. The Fisi Medical Commission that examined her this morning is satisfied with her post-operative course. Later in the day, the champion from Valle d’Aosta will begin assisted physiotherapy.
The ANSA reported the first words after the terrible injury at the Italian championships in Val di Fassa of the winner of the overall World Cup, the second of her career, as well as the downhill and giant slalom trophies and gold in giant slalom and silver in super-G at the World Championships.
“At the happiest time in my career, it just didn’t take, I had another month of work ahead of me and I was looking forward to it. Instead, I will have to face a new challenge in which I will put all of myself, as always,” Federica said.
“The track conditions were great, I was fine, and if I went back I would do everything the same again….trying, however, not to fall!” added Federica finding the strength to joke.
