Italy Cup: Juventus disposes of Frosinone, Milik hat trick

At the Stadium in Turin, Juventus easily beat Frosinone 4-0 in the Italian Cup quarterfinals, the absolute protagonist being Arek Milik, who scored a hat trick.

On 9’ referee Sacchi awarded a penalty kick to Juventus for Lirola’s foul on Miretti, two minutes later Milik converted it, clearing Cerofolini with his left. On 13’ Harroui retaliates from outside the box but Perin blocks easily. At 19’ Garritano serves Ibrahimovic whose left è weak, Perin blocks in the dive.

On 26’ prolonged action by Juventus with a shot by Miretti and one by Kostic both rebounded, on the counter attack great opening by Ibrahimovic for Kaio Jorge but Bremer providentially saves. At 37’ Ibrahimovic’s left deflected into a corner.

At 38’ Juventus’ crazy double: very long and millimetric Milik’s throw for McKenie who defiladed on the left crosses to the far post where Milik himself arrives with a very long run who stops with his chest and, falling, slips Cerofolini with his left.

In the 40’ Weah’s central broadside that Cerofolini awkwardly repels. In the first minute of stoppage time Kostic is anticipated by Cerofolini’s foot out. In the first minute of the resumption McKennie è solissimo in the area but his shot is fouled by Lusuardi and deflected into a corner by Cerofolini.

At 48’ the tris: cheerful referral by Cerofolini on which arrives like a hawk Locatelli who touches for Milik who can do nothing but put in the net, for the Pole, who had not scored for three months, è hat trick. At 57’ Miretti’s low, strong cross cleared by Romagnoli. Soon after, Milik scored the fourth goal by deflecting a shot from outside Miretti but the Var cancelled it for offside.

At 61’ però the 4-0 comes anyway: very long brushstroke by McKennie on which Yildiz arrives who in acrobatics pierces Cerofolini. At 68’ McKennie’s header just wide. At 70’ Perin blocks on the ground a very dangerous header by Barrenechea, who entered recently, from Soul’s corner kick.

At 72’ Nicolussi ankle from distance, Cerofolini deflects for a corner. At 74’ Vlahovic, who relieved Milik, finds the ball on his head from a corner kick and sends out but it was not an easy deflection. Immediately afterwards, another uncertainty by Cerofolini, who miscontrols a cross from the left.

At 77’ counterattack and deadly left by Cambiaso and this time Cerofolini è very good at repelling. By now the match è one-way for a long time and at 92’ Garritano finds himself between his feet a ball coming from a cross from the right and all alone pardons Perin missing the flag goal. It ends 4-0, in the semifinals Massimiliano Allegri’s Bianconeri will meet Lazio.

Jannik Sinner-Mackenzie McDonald 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2

Jannik Sinner’s journey to the Us Open begins on the right foot. After an uphill start, the world number one rediscovered himself and beat Mackenzie McDonald, world number 140, in four sets in the first round of the U.S. major, with a final score of 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2 after 2 hours and 24 minutes of play.

The challenge starts badly for the South Tyrolean who surrenders the serve in the opening game. McDonald confirms the lead (2-0), Sinner immediately recovers (2-2) but then loses four consecutive games, with the U.S. cashing in the first partial 6-2 in the presence of a rather unrecognizable Italian.

Sinner gets off to a bad start in the second set as well, suffering the break in the opening with no less than two double faults. Here forò comes the reaction of the leader of the seeding who threads four consecutive games and closes for 6-2 the second partial, putting the set count back on a par.

From that moment on, the South Tyrolean put the arrow in his hands. The blue, in fact, overturned the initial disadvantage and went ahead by a set, dominating the third partial, which he won 6-1 after only 25 minutes. The fourth set was also without history, in which Sinner flew up 4-0 in a flash and then closed 6-2.

Sinner thus advances to the second round of the Us Open where he will find another American: Alex Michelsen, who defeated Eliot Spizzirri (6-1 7-5 6-3) in three sets.
