Marco Ramondino exonerated

Bertram Derthona announces that it has relieved coach Marco Ramondino from the position of first team coach after the loss against Nutribullet Treviso. Coach Ramondino è entered and will remain in the history of the Company for the historic and unique cycle – from October 2018 – in which he guided Bertram Derthona up to the highest levels of Italian basketball. The 2019 LNP Old Wild West Supercup, promotion to Serie A in 2021, two Scudetto semifinals, a Coppa Italia final, and access to the BCL Play-Ins at the Club’s first-ever participation in a European competition are just some of the highlights of his path in bianconero.

Among all competitions (A2 Series, A Series and BCL), since his arrival coach Ramondino has è sat on the bench of Bertram Derthona 214 times, achieving 120 victories. There are many unforgettable games in which coach Ramondino has led the team: the games against Udine and Torino in the 2019 LNP Old Wild West Supercoppa Final Four, the exhilarating run against Ravenna, Eurobasket Roma and Torino in the ride to Serie A in 2021, the successes against Virtus Bologna – in Casale in the championship and in Pesaro in the Coppa Italia semifinals – and the subsequent final against EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, albeit lost, that brought more than 500 bianconeri fans to Pesaro to chase a dream. Last – only in chronological order – the five victories achieved in BCL Group H, the new chapter undertaken by the club starting this season.

So many players who have shared the path with him, starting with captain Riccardo Tavernelli and Luca Severini – on the roster since 2019/20 – passing through Jamarr Sanders, Semaj Christon, Ariel Filloy, J.P. Macura, Mike Daum and many others with whom the coach has written memorable pages of Bertram Derthona’s history.

Marco Ramondino, in the more than five seasons he has coached in Tortona, has contributed in a decisive way to the technical and structural growth of a Club that has è established itself season after season: the LBA Coach of the Year award for the 2022/23 season è just the icing on a cake that will remain forever in everyone’s memory.

So Alessandro Nesta, Monza coach, on the eve of the match against Como: “It’s an important match for us because it’s been a difficult season, we’ve been missing something. Winning a derby can help put a piece to the season, it would be important, we hope to do well.”

Facing us will be mister Cesc Fabregas who in the conference spoke of a Monza that was difficult to beat and that, net of the standings, put many teams in trouble: “I return the esteem because he plays great soccer, his idea has been seen throughout the championship. I have to congratulate him”.

The derby against the Larians will be the first ever in Serie A at the’U-Power Stadium: “I hope tomorrow will be anyone&#8217s day, anyone who wants to do their best to make history. If you win 1-0, 30 years from now we will remember that derby won because of a player. It&#8217s an opportunity to stay in the history of this club. I would rather win the derby than finish second to last. You are always relegated, but if you win the derby you stay in history”.

Nesta recovers, at least for the bench, Luca Caldirola, Andrea Carboni and Stefano Sensi. “What I try to convey to the players are the difficulties I had. I had surgery 10 times and stopped at 38. All players have difficulties, but it matters how you react to difficulties. It&#8217s easy to tell that I won the Champions League or that I won the World Cup, but you also have to tell that I lost a derby 5-1 and that I left the Olimpico in a helicopter. If you are given up for dead, you have to bring out the fire in you. Would I reconfirm myself next season? No, given the results”.

“The track conditions were great, I was fine, and if I went back I would do everything the same again….trying, however, not to fall!” added Federica finding the strength to joke.
