Simone Inzaghi dark in face in postgame

He does not hide his displeasure Simone Inzaghi, speaking to the microphones of ‘Sport Mediaset’ after the elimination from the Coppa Italia of both Inter at the hands of Bologna, which was able to come back from a goal deficit in extra time. In addition to the mockery for the exit from a tournament won in the previous two editions there’è also the damage related to the physical problem manifested by Lautaro Martinez during the first of the two extra times.

In this sense, Simone Inzaghi explained what è happened and why è he was forced to bring in Mkhitaryan in minute 99, in place of the Argentine: “Lautaro had a fatigue – said the coach from Piacenza -, he will be è to be evaluated. The doctors are quite calm but you know, you play every three days and with the next game in less than 72 hours we have to evaluate well how he is”.

Speaking then about the match, Inzaghi explained: “It’s sorry to go out like this; we had won the cup in the last two years and after a match conducted like this; we deserved to win. Soccer forè è soè, I can only blame for whatè happened from the 1-1 onwards. It must serve us as a lesson, this year we had never been remounted and outplayed”.

“Certainly no one canò be happy, we played a beautiful match in front of our fans and failed to take the satisfaction of going to the quarterfinals” concluded Inzaghi, who therefore at least for this season will not add a Coppa Italia to the three won as a player (2000, 2004 and 2009, always with Lazio) and the same number won as a coach (2019 with Lazio, 2022 and 2023 with Inter).

Us Open: ok Matteo Arnaldi, Fabio Fognini eliminated

Everything was easy for Matteo Arnaldi, the 30th seed in the draw, in the first round of the Us Open. The Sanremese player, in fact, won in three sets with Zachary Svajda, number 102 in the ATP ranking, with the final score of 6-3 6-2 6-1 after an hour and three quarters of play.

After a balanced first set, decided only by a break in the eighth game, Arnaldi ramped up in the second and third halves, leaving only three games to his opponent. The Italian in the next round will face Russian Roman Safiullin, who defeated American Matthew Forbes in three sets.

No dice, however, for Fabio Fognini, who must already leave Flushing Meadows. In fact, the Taggiasco player had to surrender to Tomas Machac, number 39 in the world rankings, who won in three sets with the final score of 7-5 6-1 6-3 after one hour and three quarters of play.

Fognini got off to a bad start and immediately went down 0-3. The Italian managed to recover the disadvantage, tying at 4-4 but on 5-5 Machac placed a new and decisive stretch (7-5). Jannik Sinner-Mackenzie McDonald 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2

Jannik Sinner’s journey to the Us Open begins on the right foot. After an uphill start, the world number one rediscovered himself and beat Mackenzie McDonald, world number 140, in four sets in the first round of the U.S. major, with a final score of 2-6 6-2 6-1 6-2 after 2 hours and 24 minutes of play.

The challenge starts badly for the South Tyrolean who surrenders the serve in the opening game. McDonald confirms the lead (2-0), Sinner immediately recovers (2-2) but then loses four consecutive games, with the U.S. cashing in the first partial 6-2 in the presence of a rather unrecognizable Italian.

Sinner gets off to a bad start in the second set as well, suffering the break in the opening with no less than two double faults. Here forò comes the reaction of the leader of the seeding who threads four consecutive games and closes for 6-2 the second partial, putting the set count back on a par.

From that moment on, the South Tyrolean put the arrow in his hands. The blue, in fact, overturned the initial disadvantage and went ahead by a set, dominating the third partial, which he won 6-1 after only 25 minutes. The fourth set was also without history, in which Sinner flew up 4-0 in a flash and then closed 6-2.

Sinner thus advances to the second round of the Us Open where he will find another American: Alex Michelsen, who defeated Eliot Spizzirri (6-1 7-5 6-3) in three sets.
