Italy Cup, Napoli-Frosinone 0-4

The potential quarterfinal between Napoli and Juventus will not be there; in fact, the partenopei were eliminated from the Coppa Italia on Tuesday evening by a brilliant Frosinone, able to impose itself with a resounding 4-0 on Walter Mazzarri’s team in the round of 16 played at the ‘Maradona’. A match that è unlocked only after the half hour, rewarding the team more ù good at taking advantage of the opportunities created and the very inertia of the match.

The match initially lived in flashes, with both teams playing openly and Napoli making itself more dangerous in the first half: Cerofolini denied the joy of a goal to Lindstrom at 16′, Raspadori hit the post six minutes later. At 37′ a goal would also arrive, scored by a Giovanni Simeone good at taking advantage of Okoli’s defensive topica, but after a long consultation first in the Var room and then by referee Abisso at the on-field review comes the cancellation for a touch of Lindstrom’s hands at the start of the action. So it comes to halftime on 0-0.

The resumption sees Napoli hit another woodwork, on 53’this time with Mario Rui. Walter Mazzarri tries to rely on the heavy artillery by inserting Di Lorenzo, Lobotka and especially Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen, but at 65′ comes the mocking 0-1: Garritano cross and Enzo Barrenechea header, the parabola taken by the ball deceives Gollini and the ciociari take the lead.

Napoli completely lost its bearings and Frosinone took advantage by scoring practically every time it could: at 70′ Giuseppe Caso doubled taking advantage of a mistake in Di Lorenzo’s disengagement, at 91′ Walid Cheddira made it 3-0 on a penalty kick caused again by a shocked Di Lorenzo (stomping in the box against Gelli). On the counterattack then came the poker, with Abdou Harroui, at 95′ a goal that preceded the final whistle by a few seconds.

Napoli è therefore out of the Coppa Italia, eliminated as last year by a team fighting for salvation (then it was Cremonese, thoughé only after penalties). It will therefore be Frosinone that will face in the quarterfinals the winner of the challenge between Juventus and Salernitana, which will be staged on January 4 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Las Vegas, free practice below expectations at Ferrari

Bad awakening in the Ferrari house after the first two free practice sessions of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. There is no doubt that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz expected more than the fourth and sixth places they got in the first session and the fifth and fourth places in the second. Here are their words and those of the team prinxipal of the house of Maranello Frederic Vasseur.

Charles Leclerc: “It wasn’t è a memorable day for us, but it seems it was also complicated for the other teams. We are not as strong as we expected to be before we went on track, with these very cold weather conditions for us è it is still difficult to get the tires into the ideal temperature, which we knew would be the challenge of the weekend, so tonight we will work on that. Let’s see what we can bring home tomorrow”.

Carlos Sainz: “Today’s in Las Vegas è was a complicated Thursday, mainly because of the track conditions, which had very little grip and gave us strange feelings in the car. For the second session we tried something different, but we are still not satisfied with our position and we need to continue working on it. Hopefully, tonight’s analysis will help us identify the main areas for improvement, so that we can arrive at tomorrow’s qualifying in better shape. The race pace was not bad, but there’è still a lot to do”.

Frederic Vasseur: “Ferrari favored for the Las Vegas GP? I don&#39t know if we are the favorite, definitely è a balanced and difficult weekend from the start. The battle è very tight, we have improved from last year. The most important thing è is to be ready for the race, è the one we are thinking about and focused on”.

The words of Ronaldinho

Brazilian Ronaldinho è spoke at ‘Champions Lounge’ – in-depth football lounge aired every Thursday on the dedicated Twitch channel with Fabio Cordella, Sabrina Uccello and Marco Giordano – reviewing highlights of his career and reflecting on the present of soccer: “For us Brazilians Pelé è the greatest of all, but in my house Maradona è has always been Diego, different from all the others. What can è be said about him? Spectacular, the best I have seen play. He and I have been together many times, not only as a footballer but also as a man è he was always a bigger brother. È it was wonderful to be with him”.

” I was a happy player. I did the thing I liked most and thank God I succeeded, playing è the thing I loved most in the world. My goal at Chelsea? I didn’t think of it! È it came from sé. I thought of the easiest and quickest thing to do, and it came. Today there are so many footballers who make me smile, give me joy. Messi, Neymar… so many players are good. Soccer è always beautiful, no matter the game or where you are. Always makes you excited, dreaming. Soccer è beautiful, no matter where you are”.

Ronaldinho also talked about his possible but never happened return To Italy: “I only thought about playing, my brother took care of the rest. I played wherever I dreamed of playing”. Roberto, the brother: “È true, in the past we talked a lot with Inter, when I was in Mexico still playing. The ’deal at that time was difficult forò. Inter however è a great team, so è always a pleasure when there’è a proposal from such a club. Juventus? I saw it in Sion playing, we went to watch a game together with Dinho. I loved Del Piero, one of the strongest I have seen play, along with Roberto Baggio. I also watched Platini… they were all at Juventus, which has a beautiful history”.

Closing with the ideal formation: “In my 4-3-1-2 in goal there’è Dida. The right fullback would be Cafu, the left Roberto Carlos. The two center-backs are Paolo Maldini and Rafa Marquez. As play Thiago Motta, while the two midfield midfielders would be Deco and Andrea Pirlo. The 10 would not be me, it would be Leo Messi. The two in front instead would be Ronaldo and Romario”.
