Salernitana deludes itself, then collapses: Atalanta comes back and runs rampant
Atalanta-Salernitana 4-1
Thanks to a brilliant second half, capable of making people forget a first half that was below their capabilities, Atalanta won Monday evening’s match against Salernitana 4-1, the match that concludes the 16th round of Serie A. The start, for the Bergamasks, è was thrilling: after only 10 minutes è in fact, the visiting team took the lead, thanks to Lorenzo Pirola’s winning header that escaped De Roon’s marking and beat Carnesecchi for 0-1.
The Nerazzurri’s reaction è not very precise: Lookman and Koopmeiners tried, but the goal defended by Costil did not run any particular danger until the interval, which saw the Grenadians ahead by one goal. Despite the fact that at the resumption of the game the twenty-two on the field are the same, everything changes already after a few minutes: at 47′ again Luis Muriel (who scored on December 9 against AC Milan and on the 14th, twice, against Rakow) confirms an extraordinary period of form, scoring the equalizer with a spectacular conclusion from the edge of the area; five minutes later è Mario Pasalic to complete the comeback, closing in a winning way an action initiated again by Muriel.
Salernitana came close to equalizing with Dia, who hit the post at 75′ but sank within a few minutes: Charles De Ketelaere made it 3-1 at 83’83’, taking full advantage of Scalvini’s assist, good at interrupting an opponent attempt and starting the restart; Aleksey Miranchuk closed the accounts for good at 89’89’ on a decisive feed from the Belgian.
So it ends 4-1 for Atalanta, which with the three points won climbs to seventh place in the standings, bypassing Roma and moving to -2 from fourth-placed Bologna. For Salernitana, on the other hand, the nightmarish season continues: only 8 points collected in 16 games, the salvation zone è at -5 but it will need a decisive change of course not to wreck permanently.

Miracle Fiorentina: nine qualify for the Conference League rounds

On 94’ a penalty was awarded to the Magyars for a foul on Colley by Ranieri, who was sent off for double admonition. Three minutes later, Nagy from the penalty spot clears De Gea.
