Ferencvaros-Fiorentina 1-1, Roma-Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0

They arrive, and they are a bit mixed when compared with each other, the European group stage verdicts for Fiorentina and Roma: the Viola, thanks to the 1-1 draw in the final against Ferencvaros, place first in Group F of the Conference League and advance directly to the round of 16, while the Giallorossi, despite a 2-0 win against Sheriff Tiraspol, do not go beyond second place in Group G of the Europa League and, to finish among the best sixteen of the second European competition, will have to go through the playoff against one of the “relegated” teams from the Champions League.

As for Fiorentina’s match, the first half brought as a dowry the injury of Nico Gonzalez, who came off at 20’and was replaced by Ikoné, while at the beginning of the second half came Zachariassen’s goal that was worth the momentary overtaking in the standings by Ferencvaros. To settle things è Luca Ranieri, who in minute 73 scored on the developments of a corner and allowed his team to celebrate the 1-1. The score wouldn&#39t change anymore: Fiorentina first with 12 points, Ferencvaros second with 10 (in the playoffs against one of the “relegated” from the Europa League). Eliminated are Genk (9 points) and Cucaricki (0).

At the Olimpico, however, the match between Roma and Sheriff è literally without history: at 11’11’ è Romelu Lukaku to open the scoring, after a beautiful action of Zalewski who serves the Belgian two steps from the goal line; again Zalewski inspires the goal of 2-0, scored by Andrea Belotti at 32′ header, while closing out the scoring è the “baby” Niccolò Pisilli, class of 2004, who took advantage of Lukaku’s bank to pierce Koval at 94′.

At the same time, forò, Slavia Prague beat Servette 4-0 and finished first in the group, with 15 points. Roma finishes in second place with 13, while Servette, which finishes with 5, drops to the Conference League and bottom-seeded Sheriff finishes with 1 point and è eliminated.

Matteo Arnaldi is off to a good start at the Geneva ATP 250. After a surprising elimination in the first round at the Internazionali d’Italia, the tennist from Liguria redeemed himself in his debut at the ‘Gonet Geneva Open’, defeating Hugo Gaston, world number 74, in a comeback.

The Blue won with a final score of 6-7 6-4 6-4 after nearly two and a half hours of struggle. In the first set it was the serve that dominated. The’only one to concede break points – two – was Gaston but the Frenchman saved himself and made the tie-break his own (8-6).

With the momentum in his favor, Gaston pulled ahead by a break in the second set, taking the serve away from Arnaldi in the sixth game (2-4). Here, however, came the Sanremese’s angry reaction, stringing together a run of four consecutive games (6-4), putting everything back on an even keel.

In the third and decisive set Arnaldi immediately escaped to 2-0 but was taken back by the transalpine (2-2). After another exchange of breaks, the’decisive stretch was signed by the Azure at 4-4, winning the last two games (6-4) and thus reaching the round of 16.
