Paola Egonu makes 26, Allianz VV privateer in Trento
Allianz VV privateer in Trent
Allianz Vero Volleyball Milan also won its second match of the season in the Women’s A1 Series against Itas Trentino. Coach Marco Gaspari’s team won 1-3 (17-25; 20-25; 25-23; 18-25), the result of a match in which the hosts sold their skins dearly, putting the Milanese in difficulty especially in the third set, also thanks to some too many errors in the set. Change of sextet for Gaspari, who confirms Orro – Egonu as diagonal setter-opponent, proposing forò Daalderop-Sylla as setters, the pair Rettke-Folie as middle hitters and Parrocchiale as libero.
In the first game è Folie to sign the opening point of the match, well assisted by Orro. As in the game against UYBA, the Milanese struggled for a moment to get into the match, also due to Itas who kept the game in balance. L’Allianz Vero Volley Milano, per’, è good at not getting discouraged and led by Daalderop-Egonu, managed to place the first break of the match taking the lead on 10-16 and subsequently winning the set 17-25. In the second partial, the Lombardy women immediately ran away at a rocket, putting 8 points between the two formations (13-21). Gaspari’s girls, did not give up even on the opponent’s comeback attempt, ending with a well-deserved 20-25, sealed by the monster block of newcomer Candi. Debut with the jersey of Allianz Vero Volley Milano, in the second set, for opposite player Malual and setter Prandi. In the third set it was the hosts who attempted the initial stretch, with the first pink team of the Consortium good at sewing up but with the Trentino women more cynical at the end, winning 25-23. In the last quarter però the greater quality of Gaspari’s lineup came out, sealing the game at the final score of 3-1.
MVP of the match Sylla, top scorer Paola Egonu with 26 balls put on the ground, followed by Daalderop and Sylla herself with 12. Appointment now for Sunday, October 22, at 5:30 p.m., within the friendly walls of the Allianz Cloud for the challenge against Scandicci.

US Open, Alexander Zverev also out: Jannik Sinner thanks.
All-U.S. semifinal at US Open
Another big man exits the tournament. After the various Alcaraz and Djokovic, Zverev è is also no longer in the running at the US Open. The German è was beaten by Fritz in four sets (7-6 (2) 3-6 6-4 7-6), at the end of a match that è lasted almost three and a half hours. A defeat that leaves a lot of bitterness in Zverev’s mouth. The German was aiming to reach at least the final.
A feat for the American who, dragged by the home crowd, won the first semifinal of a Slam event. After winning the first set on tie-break, Fritz suffered the return of Zverev, who took home the second partial with a peremptory 6-3. The momentum seemed to be in the German’s hands but Fritz escaped on 3-0. Zverev recovers but gives up at the più beautiful. Spectacular fourth set. Zverev tries everything but, once again, the tie-break costs him dearly. He loses it 7-3 and says goodbye to the tournament.
Dreams big for Fritz who, in the semifinals, will face the other American Tiafoe who, in the quarterfinals, wins the match with Dimitrov, forced to retire in the fourth set due to a physical problem: 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 4-1 the partials in favor of Tiafoe.
The United States dreams, after 21 years (Roddick, 2003), of an American winning the U.S. Open. In the meantime, it enjoys Sinner who, thanks to Zverev è’s knockout; increasingly serene in his comfortable position as world No. 1.
