LBA, Brescia dominates against Treviso
After the victory on the’s debut within the friendly walls of the A2A PalaLeonessa, Coach Magro’s Germani Brescia travels to the PalaVerde in Treviso for the second day of the 2023/24 LBA championship. Germani plays an’excellent game and brings home the second win of the season.
The two-game ball rewards Germani Brescia, who with Christon registers the first two points of the game. Allen scores 5 points in one minute and immediately puts the hosts ahead on 5-3, but here comes the reaction of Brescia that with Christon and Petrucelli’s triples flies ahead on 5-8 after 3 minutes of play. Treviso is not to be outdone and takes the lead again at 9-8, but here comes Germani’s first partial: 0-8 signed by Della Valle, Bilan and Petrucelli! Coach Magro’s team forces Vitucci to a timeout when there are 4 minutes left to play in the first quarter (score of 9-16 in favor of the biancoblu). Germani touches the maximum lead on +11 thanks to Bilan’s penetration basket while for the hosts è Harrison finally unlocks the score for his team. Treviso tries to shorten the distance but two triples by CJ Massinburg deliver 9 points of lead to Germani at the end of the first quarter (15 to 24 the score after 10’).
Mike Cobbins opens the second quarter for Germani, but Treviso doesn’t take it lying down and posts a 10-0 partial that brings the hosts back to -1 (25 to 26 the score). Cournooh finally after a 3’ blackout finds the bottom of the net for Brescia but here comes Bowman’s triple that brings the score even (28-28). New blackout for Germani and Treviso immediately takes advantage of it also accomplice to the unsportsmanlike foul whistled on Burnell. Partial 5-0 and the hosts go back ahead 33-28 with Zanelli’s free throws and Paulicap’s 2+1. Newcomer Della Valle tries to shake up his teammates by finding two easy points from the lunette, which is followed by Burnell’s triple and Massinburg’s basket on an offensive rebound (33-35 the score in Germani’s favor at 16’). Massinburg’s subsequent triple and Burnell’s basket plus a foul suffered force Vitucci to timeout again. Burnell’s extra free and Christon’s penetrating basket give Germani back the double-digit lead (+10 on 33 to 43 at 18’). Two triples in quick succession by Mezzanotte bring the hosts back to -7 (39 to 46 the score) when there are 30’’ left to play in the second quarter. Neither team finds points in the last two plays and the first half ends with the score 39 to 46 in favor of Brescia.
Christon scores the first points for Germani at the beginning of the third quarter. Partial of 0-4 and Brescia thus revises the double-digit lead +11 (39 to 50 the score). Allen from the line scores the first points for Treviso but here comes a new Germani partial that reaches +14 thanks to Petrucelli’s triple and Christon and Bilan’s points (43 to 57 the score at 23’). Captain Della Valle’s triple and Petrucelli’s one of two from the lunette delivers a 17-point lead to Coach Magro’s team. Treviso tried to come back shortening the distance to -13 thanks to baskets by Paulicap and Bowman, but another Della Valle triple kept the hosts at a distance when there were 3 minutes left to play in the quarter (50 to 66 the score). Della Valle’s third triple digs even more of a furrow between the two teams with Treviso unable to hold off Germani’s attacks. At the end of the quarter the hosts try to get back into the game with Allen and Mezzanotte but Cournooh’s triple delivers a 16-point lead to Brescia at the end of the third quarter.
Mezzanotte from the lunette opens the last quarter of the game but a new 0-6 partial by Germani delivers 21 points of lead to the biancoblu. Treviso tries to contain the guests but Brescia runs rampant in the score. Of note was the Serie A debut for Matteo Porto. Germani brings home the two points overcoming the hosts and closing the match with a score of 71-99.

No one like Jannik Sinner in the Slams, but now there’s Daniil Medvedev
The Russian l’ve eliminated him in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon
Overcoming, in three sets, even the Paul obstacle, Sinner è earned himself a place among the top eight at the US Open. No small accomplishment, considering how many bigs were lost along the way during the tournament (Alcaraz and Djokovic above all). By beating the American, the world number 1 has hit a truly significant milestone.
He became, in fact, the only tennis player to have reached the quarterfinals in all Slam events this season. He’s only managed to do so, demonstrating why he is, at present, No. 1 in the world. Now, however, on his way is the great rival, namely Medvedev. As is well known, the Russian eliminated him in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon (in five sets).
In fact, this is an early final, considering that Medvedev, on paper, è the only big man left on the US Open draw along with Sinner himself. It is a challenge that promises sparks with the Italian who will try to improve a statistic in which he è losing. In fact, the Russian leads in the previous records: seven wins to five.
“With Medvedev it will be very tough, physically and mentally, I hope it will be a good match and that you can have fun” the words of Sinner himself spoken at the end of the match he won against the American Paul. The Russian is having a masterful tournament, playing at a very high level but Sinner is well physically, è ready for the challenge and, best to remember, è the number 1 in the world.

Milan: Ismael Bennacer does not leave, Adrien Rabiot does not arrive
Fonseca has already reinstated it, it will come in handy
Bennacer, after being considered redundant throughout the summer market session (so much so that he missed a few training sessions because he was “on the market”), has found out his future: he stays at AC Milan. The opportunity’to go and play in the rich Saudi Pro League did not è materialize and, therefore, Bennacer will continue his adventure at AC Milan.
The closing of the market in Saudi Arabia has sealed the end of the soap opera. Fonseca will have, therefore, at his disposal, Bennacer at least until January. A valuable element, if we consider how instrumental he was in winning the Scudetto in 2022 with Pioli on the bench to guide him.
Bennacer’s stay at the Diavolo closed, for good, the Rossoneri club’s doors to Rabiot. The Frenchman, having ended his long adventure at Juventus, seemed to be able to settle at AC Milan but, in the end, the negotiation never è got off the ground. The French midfielder, unemployed luxury, will have to look for another team.
Actually, the only possible route seems to be Turkey, maybe right at Galatasaray, together with Osimhen. Maybe not the very first choice (not even for the Nigerian outgoing from Napoli) but better than staying unemployed luxury. Meanwhile, with Bennacer’s confirmation, the Diavolo è complete. Fonseca now knows who he will be able to count on for this season, which is currently off to an uphill start.

US Open, Jannik Sinner sweeps Tommy Paul in three sets: he’s in the quarters
World No. 1 has never made it past the quarterfinals at the US Open
Another great performance by Sinner. The Italian betrayed no emotion and got rid of the home idol Paul in three sets: 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 the partials in favor of the world number 1 who thus conquers the pass for the quarterfinals of the last Slam of the season where, waiting for him, there is Medvedev, his executioner at Wimbledon.
Sinner’s start is not one for anthology. He lost serve twice in the first set but è did well to fight back and take home the set in the tie-break. Very hard-fought second set, with the American doing everything to ruin Sinner’s plans but without succeeding. Another tie-break and 2-0 Sinner. Embittered, Paul begins to lose confidence in his own means. Sinner, like the world No. 1 that he is è, inserts the high gears and closes the file with a comfortable 6-1.
A test of great substance that confirms that Sinner is tremendously focused on his mission, which is to try to take home what would be his second Slam of the season (he won the Australian Open). Meanwhile è he has become the only person this season to have reached the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slam events. Not a bad achievement.
Now, on his way, there’s that Medvedev who, even lately, è managed to beat him. In fact, the record speaks for itself: 7-5 in favor of the Russian who, like Sinner, is having an excellent US Open. The Wimbledon rematch is worth a spot in the semifinals.
