Daniele Santarelli blunt about Paola Egonu: “I coached the 4 biggest and…”

Paola Egonu’s value, questioned in recent months after the latest vicissitudes in the national team, è out of question according to Imoco head coach Daniele Santarelli.

The Turkey coach, who has had the opportunity to coach the strongest forwards of the moment, did not mince words in a press conference. “Who è greatest among Paola Egonu, Isabelle Haak, Melissa Vargas Vargas and Tijana Boskovic? I knew probably Paola more than the others, I coached her for three years with the club, è a different thing, Boskovic I had her for three months in the summer, forò Paola è undoubtedly the’strongest striker, è able to change games, è an incredible talent, I think none of these players are able to do in attack what Paola did, that canò do Paola”.

“That doesn’t mean that the others are not champions, I’m just talking about the fundamental of attack. She’ very lucid and cool, and at certain times in sports she can’ make the difference’.

“Boskovic è a charismatic leader, incredible for the team, è at the top for years, è a very complete player and not è strong only in attack, those three months with her I experienced them in a wonderful way, I have wonderful memories of her”, are the words reported by ivolleymagazine.it.

“Haak è the most sunny and smiling player of all, as a person, è a very complete player, è perhaps the strongest in the break point fundamental, and in modern volleyball this thing matters so much. She è undoubtedly one of the strongest walls in the world, è very strong in defense, è phenomenal in attack, I think she is a very complete player”.

“The last one è Vargas, a wonderful discovery, because everybody had described her to me in another way, I think I saw maybe the most beautiful side of Melissa, a very sunny girl, they had described her to me as gloomy, silent, hardly smiling, we discovered a side of Melissa that probably nobody knew, not even in Turkey. We saw her smiling, having fun, giving her best in what she can’t. Everyone knows her technical skills, her power on offense, what amazed me è her growth in the fundamentals that I think matter a little less for her, like defense. She è also a very pleasant discovery, I really enjoyed her to the fullest”.
