Miracle Fiorentina: nine qualify for the Conference League rounds

At the Pancho Arena in Felcsut, Fiorentina, reduced to 9 against 11, qualified for the Conference League group stage by beating Puskas Akademia 6-5 after penalty kicks.

The Viola took the lead in 59’ with Kean forcefully jumping over a man and when he got to the edge of the area he pierced Pecsi with a right-footed shot. On 94’ a penalty was awarded to the Magyars for a foul on Colley by Ranieri, who was sent off for double admonition. Three minutes later, Nagy from the penalty spot clears De Gea.

After the 3-3 draw of the first leg, we thus go to extra time and at 98’ Fiorentina remains in nine for another double caution to Comuzzo. The result is not unlocked and so it comes down to penalties. From the penalty spot, the Viola were infallible: Mandragora, Kouame, Colpani, Richardson and Biraghi scored while Szolnoki made the decisive mistake for the Hungarians on their fourth shot from the penalty spot.

Fiorentina thus returns to the event of which it lost the last two finals, to West Ham and Olympiakos.
