Positive debut for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan but especially for Lautaro Martinez, who signed with a brace in the home win over Monza, defeated 2-0.

At San Siro, the new Nerazzurri captain unlocked the result as early as the 8th minute by anticipating former teammate D’Ambrosio on an assist from Dumfries while in the final he closed the score by taking advantage of an assist from Arnautovic.

In the other evening match, Genoa was overwhelmed 4-1 by an already in great form Fiorentina. Goals by Biraghi (4′) and Bonaventura (12′) early in the match opened and effectively closed the accounts, well before the third and fourth goals signed by Nico Gonzalez (41′) and Mandragora (56′). Biraschi’s flagship goal (59′) was useless.

The 2023/24 Serie A championship begins with two away victories: reigning Italian champions Napoli beat Frosinone 3-1, while Hellas Verona open their tournament by overcoming Empoli 1-0 at ‘Castellani’.

As for Rudi Garcia’s men, the start at the ‘Benito Stirpe’ is nightmarish: a foul in the box by new signing Cajuste on Baez, Harroui makes no mistake from the penalty spot and it’s 1-0 to Frosinone. The lead was relatively short-lived, however: in the 24th minute Matteo Politano made it 1-1 with a fine left-footed finish from the edge, and in the 42nd minute it was Osimhen who put Napoli ahead with an impassable broadside for Turati. In between there was also a goal disallowed, for offside, to Raspadori. In the second half, the pace dropped, thanks to the heat and the physical decline typical of this very early stage of the season, but Osimhen was in time to score another goal on a counterattack, in the 79th minute, effectively closing the game.

In the other match that started at 6:30 p.m., Hellas Verona took better advantage of the chances at its disposal and won its first three points of the season at home to Empoli thanks to Federico Bonazzoli’s goal in the 75th minute: the striker was good at taking advantage of Caprile’s uncertain exit, celebrating with a three-point goal his debut with the new jersey.

Trapani Shark leads the way, Jasmin Repesa reveals the secret

Published

on

Jasmin Repesa, coach of the Trapani Shark, gave a lengthy interview to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’. “I came here to challenge myself, because there was a very young, very ambitious project – he began -. A city that likes basketball, a president who provided an important budget, and a fan base that made us feel their support right away. And the team has responded well on the court. I am satisfied with what we have done so far”.

The newly promoted Granata are currently first in the LBA standings, along with Brescia and Virtus Bologna: “I never thought that far ahead. But I was confident. I am convinced that there is everything, or almost everything, to be very competitive, we have proven it. We are a team that can play good basketball, and we have become one of the most entertaining. People want to see basketball like we are playing”.

“Team success comes first – added the Croatian coach. “We have embraced this philosophy from day one, with so many players who have been real stars in the past at different clubs. It is the only way if we want to be really competitive”.

“There are six games left and the playoffs will be another competition. Surprises can always happen, it depends on a thousand factors: how you get there, whether you have luck or bad luck, whether there are injuries or not. We just have to keep improving and growing. In the season finale we have strong opponents waiting for us, with much more experience, much more tradition, but certainly not hungrier than us. Our advantage is having so many players who have made themselves available for the common result. This is our strength” Repesa concluded.
