Jonathan Milan’s words

Jonathan Milan has signed a three-year contract with Lidl Trek.

Team manager Luca Guercilena, looks forward to embracing him starting in 2024: “We welcome a rider we have been following for a long time, since long before this year’s Giro that simply provided an outstanding confirmation of his qualities. We believe that here with us, thanks to his dedication and values, he can become one of the strongest cyclists in the world.”

“The year 2023 was a turning point,” Milan said instead, “I started the season with the will to give more solidity and continuity of results and I found myself immediately fighting for important goals. At the Giro I had a good success, a bit unexpected to tell the truth: I received a lot of compliments and comparisons were made that flattered me, but I remain with my feet on the ground. I have learned to manage effort and expectations, now I want to end the season in Bahrain Victorious with the same trend and continue to grow and improve. I know I have a lot more to learn, and in Lidl Trek I will invest in myself and explore my limits: from January to now I am feeling the eyes of the cycling world on me more and more, I hope to prove everyone who speaks so highly of me right! Expectations and praise however have not changed my life, I just have extra motivation and confidence. I’m an athlete who always asks a lot of himself, that’s the real pressure I feel, the one that gives me the push and maybe sometimes puts me in a bit of a bind. And that is one of the aspects I am working on the most. In the new team I want to win and have fun: feeling passion and enthusiasm for what you do is the best fuse to do well, and I think I made the best possible choice.”

Marc Marquez knows he is dominating this year but he has also made several heavy mistakes: “They are my weakness, I will try to handle everything differently, but I made them all on Sunday and I have to avoid them if I want to fight for the championship. I will have to think about the races where I didn”t score points.

In Aragon he will be the favorite: “Dominating here like last year will be difficult since it was raining, it will be a faster weekend, with a more rubberized track and therefore more difficult. In Silverstone I wanted to defend the points lead, here I will try to fight for the victory. My feelings compared to last Gp are better”.

In the press conference Marco Bezzecchi, winner at Silverstone, also spoke: “It was great, I missed the podium. The bike gives very good sensations, I can&#8217t wait to start again here and try to be competitive. We made a lot of steps forward, because we were also in Jerez and Le Mans but I made some mistakes. It might be difficult to repeat, but we want to be continuous”.
