Lorenzo Dalla Porta in place of Andrea Mantovani

Lorenzo Dalla Porta in Yamaha
The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team will introduce a new face on the FIM Supersport World Championship lineup starting with the Acerbis Round in the Czech Republic: Lorenzo Dalla Porta will take the place of Andrea Mantovani, from whom the team has decided to part ways. Mantovani did not take part in the Prometeon Round of Italy due to injuries sustained in the crash at Donington: the 2019 Moto3 world champion will replace him.
Mantovani was selected by the Evan Bros. Yamaha team for the 2023 season after two wildcard appearances in WorldSBK in 2021, as well as having raced in STK1000 between 2016 and 2018, finishing his first year in the top ten. This year his best result was a 12th place in Race 2 at TT Circuit Assen, skipping the British and Italian rounds due to injuries sustained in Friday’s Donington Park.
In 2019, the team won the championship with Randy Krummenacher while his boxmate Federico Caricasulo finished second. In 2020 Andrea Locatelli dominated the season in which he gave himself the world title while in 2021 and 2022 the team finished second and third behind Dominique Aegerter with Steven Odendaal and Lorenzo Baldassarri, respectively.
In a post on Instagram, Mantovani wrote, “I announce with great regret that, consensually with Evan Bros Racing Team, it has been decided to terminate the collaboration. I thank everyone for working together and wish the team all the best for the continuation of the season!”
Starting with the Autodrom Most Lorenzo Dalla Porta will be part of the team. In 2015 the Tuscan made his debut in Moto3™, later winning the world title in 2019 before moving to Moto2™. Until the end of 2022, he raced with the Italtrans Racing Team while this year he had five races with the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team and two with the Forward Team; now this new experience in the WorldSSP awaits him.
Dalla Porta said, “I am really happy to have this opportunity with the Evan Bros. WordSSP Yamaha Team, certainly one of the best teams in the category. I want to give my best, to get those results that the team and I deserve. The project is good and ambitious, so we just have to start and work hard, to improve quickly and have fun. I thank the team for the opportunity, I am really motivated.”
Team Principal Fabio Evangelista said, “I am very happy to welcome Lorenzo to our team. The first mission is to help him in adapting to the category and the tires, and then start to improve step by step, aiming to get great results. The team is ready to work hard, as it has always done, to experience a second part of the season as protagonists.”

Matteo Arnaldi recovers Gaston and hits the round of 16 in Geneva
Matteo Arnaldi is off to a good start at the Geneva ATP 250. After a surprising elimination in the first round at the Internazionali d’Italia, the tennist from Liguria redeemed himself in his debut at the ‘Gonet Geneva Open’, defeating Hugo Gaston, world number 74, in a comeback.
The Blue won with a final score of 6-7 6-4 6-4 after nearly two and a half hours of struggle. In the first set it was the serve that dominated. The’only one to concede break points – two – was Gaston but the Frenchman saved himself and made the tie-break his own (8-6).
With the momentum in his favor, Gaston pulled ahead by a break in the second set, taking the serve away from Arnaldi in the sixth game (2-4). Here, however, came the Sanremese’s angry reaction, stringing together a run of four consecutive games (6-4), putting everything back on an even keel.
In the third and decisive set Arnaldi immediately escaped to 2-0 but was taken back by the transalpine (2-2). After another exchange of breaks, the’decisive stretch was signed by the Azure at 4-4, winning the last two games (6-4) and thus reaching the round of 16.
