Musetti’s words after the victory over Munar

Lorenzo Musetti commented in a press conference on his victory over Jaume Munar in the second round at Wimbledon. “I played very well today. I was always in control of the match, I hit numerous winning shots with my forehand. I was always aggressive in response, I think I further improved my game mechanics on this surface,” he stressed.

The Carrara-based tennis player is already looking ahead to the next round, where he will want to take his revenge on Hurkacz: “I know Hubert very well, we played several times together. From him two years ago on these courts I lost there, but since then both of us have changed. He on this surface can move very well serves great and can take away your time especially with his backhand. He also knows how to attack. He is a complicated opponent after all in a tournament like this I cannot expect easy matches. We will see, certainly the first two wins have given me a lot of confidence.”

“These matches can give me a lot. I feel I have improved and matured in recent times. My dream of entering the top ten is only five positions away, but that really means a lot of points, a lot of matches and a lot of work. You have to be patient, grow slowly and daily water the little plant hoping that then the flower will bloom. If you want to get to the top you have to beat the best. Winning 7 matches in a row is not difficult at the Italian level, but in a Grand Slam it is very arduous. There are the best, 128 players but only one wins. We are in the elite of the elite, to win would really mean to see the flower bloom (laughs),” Musetti concluded.
